Social Games in Early Mother-Infant Interaction

The goal of this thesis was to study early social games in natural interaction between mother and child of 4 month age. Infant's affectivity and gaze orientation as a sign of participation was coded. We also observed how can mother and infant influence the social game routine. We examined mother's warm sensitivity and infant's temperament as a variables potentiallz influenced the social game interaction. Fifty five dyads participated in the present study when infants were four months old. Social games were analyzed in natural mother-infant interaction and identified on the given criterions. To assess maternal warm sensivity Materna Affect Attunement was used. Mother's evaluated infant's temperament on fourteen scales of IBQ-R. The results indicate that social games are an inherent part of mother-infant interactions in infant's 4 months of age, and their occurance is influenced by temperament. In silico prediction of postranslational modifications

Post-translational modifications are an important form of cellural regulation, including matabolism, growth, differentiation, transcription activation, membrane transport and cell death. Experimental identification of post-translational modifications (PTMs), especially phosporylation, is still time consuming and expensive. Progress in silico PTM prediction tools was influnced an enormous growth of known sequences which are suitable for training set, processing and final result's interpretation. In silico prediction may facilitate the identification of potencional phosporylation sites and it may speed up in future research.
Automatic sleep scoring using polysomnographic data

The thesis is focused on automatic classification of polysomnographic signals based on various parameters in time and frequency domain. The parameters are acquired from 30 seconds long segments of EEG, EMG and EOG signals recorded during different sleep stages. The parameters used for automatic classification of sleep stages are selected according to statistical analysis. Classification is performed using the SVM method and evaluation of the success of the classification is done using sensitivity, specificity and percentage success. Classification method was implemented using Matlab.
Possibilities of developing intercultural skills of foreigners children in choosen classroom from the perspektive of teacher

Thesis deals with monitoring of pupil integration options - foreigners into the educational process from the perspective of teacher development of intercultural competence. The very objective of this study was to monitor the process of developing intercultural competencies, and also to track and identify factors that influence this process in the course of educational activities in elementary school. The thesis is divided into theoretical and practical part. The theoretical part is divided into five chapters based on the analysis of literature related to this issue. The second chapter further defines the basic concepts of migration and intercultural education students - foreigners. The third chapter defines the concept of culture and concepts that connected with it, acculturation, cultural identity, culture shock, intercultural sensitivity, prejudices and stereotypes. The following chapter is responsible for defining the concepts of intercultural communication, bilingualism, intercultural conflict and intercultural friendship. The fifth chapter is devoted to teachers as a factor that significantly contributes to the educational process and the integration of students - foreigners. Vojta's reflex locomotion in hereditary polyneuropathies

CMT disease is the most frequently type of the hereditary polyneuropathy. In the Czech republic are some 2 - 4 thousand people with this disease. Clinical picture is characterized by deterioration peripheralnerves, that faces to muscular atrophy and mobility disorders. Lower limbs are affected early than upper limbs. On the lower extremitywe observe typical deformity progress - pes cavus. Fingers on the hand are in claw position. The disturbed peripheral nerves and foot deformity affect balance, movement and stability. The effect of pyrethroid based pesticides on fish

Pyrethroids are ones of the most used pesticides worldwides. The widespread use and high stability of pyrethroids lead to the assumption of that their occurrence in the environment could be quite frequent. They can reach water ecosystem as pollutants. Residues of pyrethroids are not only detected in the water column, but also in sediments and in fish tissues. The first study was devoted to the product Nexide containing 60 g.l-1 of active substance gamma-cyhalothrin. Tested Nexide concentrations were 5, 25, 50, 100, and 250 &microg.l-1. Early life stage test was used.Common carp (Cyprinus carpio) was tested. There were significant mortalities in all concentrations except the lowest concentration during the trial. The lowest concentration tested 5 &microg.l-1 only caused a slightly increased mortality. This lowest concentration influenced the growth in length and weight negatively, decelerated ontogenetic development, and made the body surface of the individuals darker. Histopathology of individuals from this concentration revealed dystrophy in liver. Examination of kidney, intestine and gills did not show significant histopathological differences compared with control. The evaluation of selected parameters of oxidative stress demonstrated a significantly higher activity of detoxification enzyme glutathione-S.transferase (GST) and a significantly lower activity of defensive enzyme glutathione peroxidase (GPx) compared with the control group. The other examined parameters of oxidative stress such as catalase (CAT), glutation reductase (GR), and lipid peroxidation determined by using the thiobarbituric acid-reactive substances (TBARs) were comparable to the control group. Changes in oxidative stress parameters suggest that exposure of the organism to the product Nexide in the given concentration leads to dysbalance of defensive enzymes. The second study was devoted to the product Cyperkill 25 EC containing 250 g.l-1. Tested Cyperkill 25 EC concentrations were 7.2, 36, 72, 144, and 360 &microg.l-1. The procedure of the trial was the same as the preceded one. There were 100% mortalities in all concentrations except the lowest concentration during the trial. The lowest tested concentration 7.2 &microg.l-1 allowed 90% of individuals to stay alive till the end of experiment. The lowest concentration influenced the growth in length and weight negatively and decelerated ontogenetic development compared with the control. Any individual exposed to this concentration did not reach juvenile stage until the end of the trial. Dark pigmentation was visible in 68% of these exposed individuals on the last day. Similar darkening was visible in individuals from higher concentrations shortly before death too. Histological examination did not revealed significant changes in intestine, liver, kidney, and gills compared with the control group. Evaluation of selected parameters of oxidative stress demonstrated significantly lower activities of GST, GR, and GPx. Activities of CAT and TBARS were comparable with the control group. Changes in oxidative stress parameters suggest that exposure of the organism to the product Cyperkill 25 EC in the given concentration could induce oxidative stress and interfere with the activities of antioxidant enzymes. The presented thesis summarises actual data about pyrethroids and their influence on fish. The demonstrated effects confirm high susceptibility of early developmental stages of fish to tested pesticides. When interpreting the results, we have to take into account the fact that studies showed this risk even on single pyrethroid substances. But water organisms are exposed to many other more or less toxic products and substances in a real environment. These xenobiotics could react with each other and their mixture could even potentiate negative effects. The performed studies also clearly show the significant differences in the sensitivity of embryonic and embryolarval tests.
Software for QRS detectors performance evaluation

QRS complex is the most prominent part of ECG signal. Due to its properties, it is used in calculation of heart rate and serves as one of the reference points for automatic delineation of ECG. Therefore, the accurate detection of QRS complexes is very important. This work is focused on creating of software for evaluation of different QRS detection approaches. The first part includes the basics of electrocardiography, the most common methods for QRS detection and also various artifacts that can affect the detection, The practical part is focused on the development of some detectors and the software itself. The detectors are then tested with software using the CSE database of real ECG recordings.
Qualitative comparison of MEMS vibration sensors

The aim of this bachelor thesis is a qualitative parameter validation of MEMS vibration sensors using calibration devices from the companies SPECTRA a Brüel & Kjr. First part of study deals with different types of MEMS vibration sensors on the piezoresistive, capacitive and thermal principle of operation. The study also deals with primary and secondary methods of calibration of vibration sensors and devices used for these calibration methods. The second part of the thesis is to use the calibration chains and secondary calibration methods to verify the sensitivity and temperature dependences of three particular MEMS accelerometers from the companies STMicroelectronic, MEMSIC and Panasonic. The measured characteristics are compared with catalog datasheets. In the end of the thesis are also discussed the possibility of the suppression these temperature effects.
Automated Detection of graphic elements in EEG signal

This thesis deals with the analysis of EEG, namely detection of graphic elements. The aim of the thesis is to describe methods suitable for detection of graphic elements and implementation of the two methods in MATLAB. The first part of the thesis describes the basics rhythms, artifacts and epileptiform transients occurring in the EEG. The second part deals with the methods of detection and their mutual comparison. The discussed methods are spectral analysis, correlation analysis, wavelet transform, cluster analysis and matched filter. Other parts of the thesis describe the database PhysioBank and implementation of the correlation analysis and matched filter. In the last part is the comparison of the success of selected methods and comparison is done by calculating sensitivity and positive predictive value.
Nonlinearity in the course of acqusition date in optical coherence tomography

This bachelor thesis builds on my semestral work, thus provides a description of the problem of optical coherence tomography imaging system in terms of a brief historical development, structural parts and modifications. Previous work is supplemented by a more detailed description of data acquisition and especially signal processing. I present examples of the clinical and research application of this technology, and try to objectively refer to its advantages and disadvantages. Chapter dedicated to the description of a practical measurement explains selected data collection procedure and clarifies their following processing. At the end of the work are summarized the results achieved, including the considerations of potential errors during the measurement.
