Bachelor thesis entitled THE IMPORTANCE OF ACTIVITIES FOR SENIORS IN SENIORS' HOMES maps implemented activities for seniors in selected homes for seniors . Furthermore,it verifies whether these activities are offered also to immobile seniors. It focuses on the professional competence of staff involved in the management of monitored activities as well. Based on studies of available resources and practical experience of social workers, two hypotheses were set : H1: I think that addressed seniors' homes offer activation activities within the services provided to its mobile and immobile users H2: I assume that these activation activities are implemented by staff with appropriate skills (obtained from previous education or specialized training). This thesis also introduces changes accompanying the period of senium. It provides an outline of the changes in seniors' homes before 1989 and thereafter. The forms of possible older persons activation and their focus on content are shown , too. Research conducted on the basis of a questionnaire survey among workers involved in the activation of older people reflects on the experience of four homes of seniors in South and West Bohemia. The questionnaire contains a total twenty-two items. The obtained results allow the comparison of the seniors´ activities implemented in terms of mapped workplaces, whether in terms of their scope, focus or staffing in terms of professional competence of the personnel.
