Nursing care for patients surgery with lymphedema in the limbs
PÁNKOVÁ, Kateřina
This bachelor´s deals with Nursing care for patients surgery with lymphedema in the limbs. We set ourself dwo essential targets. The first target is: to map out the specifics of nursing care after a surgical solution of the secondary lymphedema from the perspective of nurses. The second target is: to map out the specifics of nursing care after a surgical solution of the secondary lymphedema from the perspective of patients. The theoretical part is focused on disease lymphedema. Lymphedema reflects a serious disorder caused by malfunctioning lymphatic passages. This disease is characterized by unpainful, pale swelling, cold to touch, which is soft at first and later grows stiff and fibrous. This disease is divided into primary and secondary lymphedemas. We focused which surgical operations are used for solution of the lymphedema. The next we focused which of nursing care provided from nurses. The next we focused hwo patients reacted to surgical treatment. We evaluate methods of qualitative exploratory research were chosen in the practical part of the bachelor ´s thesis. Quantitative research with the method of in-depth interviews was selected to achieve the objectives of the thesis. The first research set comprised two nurses, who work for the University Hospital Motol in Prague. The other research set was made up of 8 female patients after surgical operations. Based on the analysis were created main categories - Lymphedema, Preoperative care, Postoperative care and Follow-up care. The research revealed that liposuction is an operation most commonly for treating lymphedema. With its satisfactory results, liposuction proved successful for all of our respondents.
The effect of physical activity on the status of lymphedema in women after oncological breast surgery
ŠIMBEROVÁ, Sabina
This bachelor thesis deals with the issue of lymphedema in women after oncological breast surgery and the influence of physical activity on this problematic complication occurring in mammary surgery. In the theoretical part of my bachelor thesis I deal with the basic description of the lymphatic system anatomy upper limb, chest and breast. In the following chapters attention is paid to breast cancer itself, where I describe individual imaging methods and possibilities of its therapies. Furthermore, I deal with complications that may occur as a result of surgery where the main complication is secondary lymphedema. Last but not least, the theoretical part includes a chapter on physical activity and their beneficial effects on health. Partially, the work described selected suitable physical activity for a given disease. In the practical part I used the method of qualitative research in three patients with the given diagnosis. I watched the values of the circumference of the affected upper limb in connection with physical activity and I processed the results in the form of case reports. The patient was given an input and output kinesiological examination with subsequent evaluation of the research. The main aim of this bachelor thesis is to propose an unified exercise for patients and assess its effectiveness. The research suggests that even a small amount of physical activity that is done regularly has a positive effect on reducing the swelling of the limbs affected by the secondary lymphedema. The work can be used in clinical practice of physiotherapists or as educational material for patients with given disease.

Author: Eva Jarotková Institution: Department of Rehabilitation Medicine, Faculty of Medicine in Hradec Králové Title of the thesis: Lymphotherapy as part of physiotherapy in patients after the ablation of breast in outpatient care Supervisor: Mgr. Bohumila Horká Number of pages: 97 Year: 2014 Key words: lymphatic system, secondary lymphedema, breast cancer, Complex Decongestive Therapy, quality of life This bachelor's thesis deals with lymphotherapy - Complex Decongestive Therapy, which makes an important part of physiotherapy in patients after the treatment of breast cancer. Information about anatomy, physiology and pathophysiology of the lymphatic system is covered within the theoretical part. It also brings forward the whole issue of breast cancer with its diagnosis, prevention and treatment and mainly focuses on its complication, secondary lymphedema of the upper extremity. The end of the theoretical part describes the basis of Complex Decongestive Therapy. The empirical part shows how Complex Decongestive Therapy is used in two patients after the ablation of breast, diagnosed with the secondary lymphedema of the upper extremity. The goal of this part is to prove how significantly Complex Decongestive Therapy contributes to cure lymphedema and how greatly it affects the quality of patient's...
