Lost in Munich: Genesis of Narative Structure

The aim of this work is to analyze and describe the changes, which were made
through the development of the script and try to reconstruct author’s style of
work. The purpose of this research is to better understand how to write a story
with such a complex structure and to verify hypothesis obtained by the analysis
of the film and the versions of the script in an interview with the author himself.

The journey of Jaroslav Papousek to film directing through non-filming artistic activities and collaboration with Milos Forman and Ivan Passer

My bachelor thesis deals with the life of Jaroslav Papoušek until he made
his first film The Most Beautiful Age. It maps his artistic activity as a
painter, sculptor, cartoonist and writer. All of that is reflected in his film
profession. When he finished the novel Black Peter and started to work on
script with Milos Forman, he discovers his scriptwriting talent and a good
sense for dialogues which he continued to develop as a part of a trio of
authors. Experience he gained by working with directors such as Miloš
Forman and Ivan Passer naturally led him to his director's debut The Most
Beautiful Age. I chose this film to describe his influence of fine art
disciplines, precisely the art of sculpture, and also his influence of his
previous collaborations on his scriptwriting and director's perception.

Cinematic Storytelling in Comics

The aim of this work is to point out the similarity of film and comics and thus also the possibility to read some film studies (or analyse films) with an overlap into the medium of comics. The selected method consists of analysing cinematic storytelling techniques and means of expression and their further use in the comics medium. To reach that aim this work uses an image appendix which in main part consists of the first chapter of the Watchmen by Alan Moore.

Being scriptwriter

The goal of my Master thesis is to sketch requirements and possibilities in scriptwriters profession and to find out, what options student have in order to work as a scriptwriter professionally. What can Department of Screenwriting and Script-editing offer to the students in order to prepare them to be successful in this field.
My work is based on interviews with active professional screenwriters, questionnaires of students and last but not least, my own experience from being student and becoming professional.

In my bachelor thesis Mad men: a study of TV series I am analyzing various factors, that led to concievement and creation of TV series Mad men. The emphasis is not merely on just the idea and creative process behind it, bbut olso on production, that allowed the series and keep its standard of quality TV.

Charlie Kaufman's Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind

This thesis explores the work of Charlie Kaufman, a famous screenplay writer and director; it focuses on his film Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. The first part analyses the narrative strategies and other important formal aspects of the film; that means it discusses the way the film is construed. The second part explores possible interpretations of the film, its main themes and cultural connotations.
