Saturation of psychosocial needs of patients hospitalized in surgical wards
KOHOUTOVÁ, Miroslava
According to a holistic approach, the health care team should focus on the entire bio-psycho-social aspects of the patient and not just on saturation of physiological needs. The diploma thesis deals with the issue of fulfilling psychosocial needs of patients hospitalized in surgical wards. The basic of patient care represents the nursing process, which enables general nurses to obtain important information about patients and leads to improve nursing care. The theoretical part of the diploma thesis describes the basics of the field of surgery and specifies the psychosocial needs. The practical part describes methodology and results of the research. The aim of the study was to evaluate the saturation of psychosocial needs of patients hospitalized in the surgical department. There were determined two research questions: What kind of role performs the patient, his family and the health care team in saturation of psychosocial needs. And what kind of factors affect the saturation of the needs of the patient hospitalized in the surgical department. A qualitative research method with semi-structured interview with patients was used to achieve the goal. The research concludes, that in the most cases, patients are afraid of the operation and moreover the need for safety and security is impaired. This situation can be reduced by the health care team, who should provide comprehensive information to patients about their disease. Moreover, the staff should apprize patients with the environment, other circumstances about the operation, postoperative care and subsequent convalescence to reduce the fear. Furthermore, it is important that the behavior, support, helpfulness and trust in the hospital staff can help to saturate other needs. The health care staff contributes to promote the need for recognition and respect for the patient's intimacy and privacy. The love and belongingness need can be fully saturated by a well-functioning family that forms self-esteem and motivates its member, expresses support, economic need, protection and saturation of social needs. Motivation leads the patient to saturate the need for self-actualization and gives him the strength to overcome obstacles. Pain accompanies every illness and disturbs the saturation of other needs, so it is necessary to minimize the pain. The area of saturation of spiritual needs is still perceived as a sensitive topic. Each patient is unique, has different needs, and therefore everyone should be approached individually to identify and saturate his specific needs.

Questions have been targeted on subjective perceptions and opinions of the respondents in the area of benefits in material distress in Ceske Budejovice, regarding examined aspectsand factors that I have outlined above. The result of my thesis is the finding that the fulfilment of the rights of clients is negatively affected by the high administrative participation rates of social workers, which subsequently affects the individual approach, roles, competencies, values of social workers, and in cooperation with other agencies and organizations that are important to the saturation ofclients' needs. Officers of benefits of benefits in material distress from the position of the first-line workers do not have sufficient powers in defending the rights of their clients. It has been appealed to social workers to have been properly compiled their administrative formalities. The consequence of this administrative burden is the sideline of the individual of intervention with clients with the aim of saturation of their needs.
The specificity of nurse´s care about clients/patients with burns.
PÍŠOVÁ, Leona
General statistics show that approximately one of a hundred citizens suffers from burn every year, of which every three thousandth has to be hospitalized. 1 % of inhabitants are treated for burns in average, of which 97 % on outpatient basis and 3 % are hospitalized. The Bachelor Thesis named Specifics of Nursing Care about Patients with Burns is divided into a theoretical part and a practical part. The theoretical part is divided into a medical part and a nursing part. The first part summarizes burns from medicinal point of view. The next part of the theory summarizes nursing care about a burnt patient. There are saturations of the individual needs presented there. The aim of the research was to find out whether nurses are aware of the specifics of nursing care about patients with burns and whether nurses master the nursing care about patients with burns. A quantitative research method, namely questionnaire was used in the practical part. First I prepared a questionnaire upon studying literature dealing with burns and upon my own experience with treatment of burns. The questionnaire consisting of 35 questions was distributed in hospitals of the South Bohemia Region. Hospitals in Prachatice, Jindřichův Hradec, Český Krumlov and České Budějovice participated, nurses working at surgery wards (casualty ward in České Budějovice) were the respondents. To achieve the goals hypotheses were set, to which the individual questionnaire questions were to answer. There were 4 hypotheses. H1: Nurses know the specifics of nursing care about patients with burns, H2: Nurses know the complications that might occur in patients with burns, H3: Nurses master the care about patients with burns and H4: Nurses know how to saturate the needs of patients with burns. The research results confirmed all the hypotheses. I evaluate this work as a so called manual for care about patients with burns. This work contributes to complex processing of the specifics of treatment of patients with burns and may be used at seminars in hospitals or as study material for medical staff.
