Possibilities of Using of Remote Detection Data for Convective Storms Intensity Nowcasting
Valachová, Michaela ; Žák, Michal (advisor)
Title: Possibilities of Using of Remote Detection Data for Convective Storms Intensity Nowcasting Author: Michaela Valachová Department: Department of Atmospheric Physics Supervisor: Mgr. Michal Žák, Ph.D., Department of Atmospheric Physics Abstract: Evolution of 60 isolated convective storms from 2016 and 2017, which formed in the region of Central Europe, is studied by means of multi-sensor observations. According to the reports from the European Severe Weather Da- tabase, two categories of storms are classified: severe and non-severe. Based on radar, lightning and satellite measurements, trends of storm characteristics are analyzed to ascertain their typical behavior. Lightning stroke rates and their change could well warn about the ability of the storm to become severe, therefore a Lightning jump algorithm was proposed within this work. From individual case studies follows that methods of remote sensing offer comprehensive information about convective storm life-cycles. In order to objectively determine crucial variables for estimating the storm se- verity, logistic regression models and regularized regressions (elastic net) are employed. In total 53 variables from the first 30, 60 and 90 minutes of the moni- tored storm lifetime are used to show their predictive skill. Results of the models indicate...
Study of Urban Heat Island with using of remote sensing investigations
Doležalová, Anežka ; Žák, Michal (advisor) ; Huszár, Peter (referee)
Modern times bring considerable urbanization which represents the development and extension of cities. An urban environment is very different in structure from the rural one and the natural landscape. The differences are shown in various types of climatic observations and they also lead to a phenomenon called Urban Heat Island. The city appears as an island with higher temperature compared to the surrounding rural areas. Eumetsat satellites called MFG and MSG with the MVIRI and SEVIRI instruments are used for the analysis of SUHI, the measurement of which is processed by the application of various algorithms. 1
Development and manufacturing of insert for satellite sandwich panel structure with tailored mechanical characteristics

Conceptual design of a heat switch installation into a structure of satellite
An overview of atmospheric carriers for launching satellites into Earth's orbit
Bačová, Alena ; Petrásek, Miloslav (referee) ; Daněk, Vladimír (advisor)
This bachelor´s thesis is dealing with an overview of aircrafts designed as a launch platform for an air launch of satellite into the low Earth orbit. The thesis is divided into four main parts. The first part describes main principles of reaction engine and its two types of engines. The second part provides an overview of aircrafts as launch platform in the USA. The third part deals with these launch platforms in the former SSSR. The fourth part is devoted to aircrafts as launch platform in the Europe.
Reentry CubeSat
Kopecký, Matěj ; Daněk, Vladimír (referee) ; Zikmund, Pavel (advisor)
This bachelor´s thesis deals with the analysis of the re-entry of the miniature CubeSat satellite from lower orbit. In the opening section, it is explained how re-entry process works, what bodies are typically used and the possibilities for protecting them from atmospheric resistance. The thesis is also focused on the mentioned group of CubeSat satellites and defines them according to general requirements. Using the knowledge learned from the opening section, a theoretical introduction to the preliminary analysis of the re-entry of the CubeSat satellite was put together, followed by a sample calculation. Here, it is explained how the CubeSat moves as it descends throughout the atmosphere and what parameters it needs to meet in order to make the re-entry.
3D Demo for Holographic Display
Kulda, Lukáš ; Milet, Tomáš (referee) ; Chlubna, Tomáš (advisor)
The result of this thesis is a 3D demo for holographic display visualizing satellite data on Earth surface. The Earth Engine API from Google was used to obtain visualized data. The 3D model scene and user interface were created using the Unity development environment and displayed on the Looking Glass holographic display to bring the scene into space.
X-Band Earth Observation Satellite Software Defined Radio
Zedka, Radim
This article presents the digital baseband receiver for signals from the EOS-PM-1 X-band Earth observing satellite. The conventional SDR is used to provide samples of the baseband signal. The MATLAB software is used for simulating the O-QPSK satellite signal in baseband, algorithms for the Doppler frequency shift and additional frequency offset removal, carrier phase synchronization, symbol timing synchronization and the phase ambiguity removal.
