Al-enriched water from unsaturated zone of sandstone: The most acidified environment in the Czech Republic by the atmospheric deposition?
Bruthans, J. ; Schweigstillová, Jana
The study describes chemistry and isotopic composition of water from unsaturated zone of sandstone. Studied waters are extremely acidified. Isotopic composition of H and O of studied waters lies at local line of meteoric water.
Analysis of mortar and stone samples extracted from the Charles Bridge in Prague
Drdácký, Miloš ; Slížková, Zuzana
The report summarizes detailed results of physical and chemical analyses of samples of medieval mortars and stones – sandstones and argillite – extracted form historical masonry of the Charles Bridge in Prague.
Pravčická brána Arch and the origin of natural sandstone arches
Cílek, Václav ; Adamovič, Jiří ; Vařilová, Zuzana
The origin of the Pravčická brána Arch was controlled by tectonic deformation of the sandstone rock massif and the formation of exfoliation scales. The present morphology is contributed by rock ledges at levels of conglomerate beds. From geological viewpoint, arches are temporary phenomena.
Effect of ethylsilicate consolidating agents on behaviour and properties of glaukonitic sandstone used to building of St. Vitus´ Cathedral
Drdácký, Miloš ; Slížková, Zuzana ; Valach, Jaroslav
This report is focused on testing and evaluating of properties of chosen consolidating agends for concervation of relief bust in external triforium of St. Vitus´ Cathedral on Prague Castle (CZ). All tested agends contained ethyl ester of silicic acid (ethylsilicate) as active ingredient and were one-component. Penetration deepness of agends into sandstone and sandstone properties after application consolidating agends: bending strenght, modulus of elasticity, thermal expansion, vapour water permeability, hygric expansion were observed. The evaluated agends behaviour very similarly and there are no dramatically better or worse agends. All agends penetrate quite well into sandstone and relatively deep and increase strength of sandstone after impregnation.
Survey and assessment of the National museum building in Prague
Drdácký, Miloš ; Slížková, Zuzana
The report presents results of a complex survey of the health conditions and damages and failures of the building of the National museum in Prague. It further summarizes scientific investigations of the loads, namely of winds in situ as well as on models in a climatic wind tunnel where also soiling was tested. The results of material analyses and public attitude to soiling and failures on the façade are involved, too. The report has a rich photographic annex.
Chemikal weathening of clay-rich sandstone matrix - control and case studies
Soukupová, J. ; Hradil, David ; Přikryl, R.
The research is focused on two aspects of the sandstone decay: mineralogical compositions of neo-formed phases as the result of enviromental conditions in reginal scale and reaction of the clay matrix with sulphate-rich acid waters.
The origin and typology of sandstones rockshelters: exploration in Labe Sandstones
Cílek, Václav
The contribution deals with holocene history of Labe Sandstones as recorded in sandy rockshelter infillings.
The sediments of sandstone rock cities, České Švýcarsko, National Park
Cílek, Václav
The paper deals with cumulative and erosional processess of mostly Holocene age in sandstone rock cities areas.
