Three 18th-century motets from the St. Vitus Church in Český Krumlov

The main topic of the bachelor's thesis is the analysis of three compositions from the second half of the 18th century. They come from the choir of the Church of St. Vitus in Český Krumlov. It is vocal sacred music with instrumental accompaniment intended for a performance during festive services. All three compositions belong to the motet genre. The author of two motets is Jan Lohelius Oehlschagel (1724-1788), a composer connected with the Strahov Monastery in Prague. The other author is Carl Ditters of Dittersdorf (1739-1799), an important composer of Viennese origin who spent most of his life in our country. The compositions are available in a digital edition, which includes a critical apparatus as well. The compositions are set into the context of the life and work of their authors and in the context of church music in Bohemia and Cesky Krumlov in the 18th century.

Spiritual songs and their influence on Christian education in church kindergartens

The bachelor's thesis deals with sacred music in church kindergartens. The history of preschool institutions and the history of music in church education are mentioned at the beginning of the theoretical part of this thesis. The Czech fiction, which reflects the child's relationship to music in church educational institutions, is also mentioned in this bachelor's thesis. One of the chapters is devoted to general information about contemporary church kindergartens, a subchapter is devoted to the use of spiritual songs in church kindergartens. The last chapter of the theoretical part deals with the pedagogy of Franz Kett. The aim of the bachelor's thesis is to answer research questions that deal with the use of spiritual songs in contemporary church kindergartens, the expansion of the pedagogy of Franz Kett by comparison with the bachelor's thesis of Lucie Drahokoupilová. The research was carried out using a questionnaire survey. The research questions, which are summarized in the last chapter, were answered thanks to the survey. Ordinarium by Karel Briza and Mistake in Interpretation in Prague's Churches

The main topic of the bachelor thesis is the analysis of Ordinarium by Karel Bříza. The part about life and work of Karel Bříza is followed by short historical-theological explanation of texts from Ordinarium Missae. The study itself consists of music component analysis. Final chapter deals with recordings of Bříza's Ordinarium from churches in Prague. The mail goal is to describe common mistakes which are frequently repeated, find out whether the organists follow prescribed accompaniment and to evaluate quality of music in Prague's churches.

Jan František Novák (?-1771) and his Mass Compositions

This master's thesis concerns the extant masses of Jan František Novák (died 1771), kapellmeister of the cathedral of St. Vitus in Prague from 1737-1758. These masses and their copies are critically examined and subsequently analyzed by focusing on particular types of arrangement as well as in summary. Aspects of musical practice and of the collection of notated music of the metropolitan chapter during Novak's era are also discussed in this thesis.

Use of modern sacred music in liturgy in katolic church in Czech lands

The dissertation concerns the use of modern music during liturgy. The first chapter is devoted to a music mentioned in the Bible. Church documents about the music in liturgy are investigated in the second and third chapter. Fourth chapter describes musical instruments and their use. Fifth chapter brings knowledge about modern scared music in Czech countries from beginning till today. Sixth chapter describes particular genres of modern sacred music. The specification of genres begins with spirituals and gospel music. These songs are traditional sacred music from Africa and America. The chapter continues with church jazz and rock. These genres originate from traditional sacred music. The next is church folk and songs from Taizé. Sixth chapter ends with music with electronic instruments. Seventh chapter describes hymn-books from totalitarianism till the present. The dissertation closes with eighth chapter with the tittle Prognosis in the future which is about modern sacred music in future.
