Hmyzí anti-stresové reakce vůči přírodním toxinům
FEDOR, Tereza
The aim of this bachelor thesis was to characterize the effect of Bt (Bacillus thuringiensis) toxin on adipokinetic hormone (AKH) levels in the brain, on the activity of digestive enzymes (lipases, proteases, glucosideases, amylases) in the midgut and on nutrient levels (lipids, proteins, glycides) in the haemolymph of the firebug (Pyrrhocoris apterus). Bt toxin was applied by injection to the adult males 24 hours before monitoring of the above mentioned physiological characteristics. The results showed that Bt toxin reduced AKH level in the brain, modulated level of nutrients in haemolymph, but did not change activity of digestive enzymes in the midgut.
Recognition of inconspicuous prey: importance of additional visual cues
KARLÍKOVÁ, Zuzana
The ability of wild caught great tits (Parus major) to discriminate between equally coloured edible (roach - Blaptica dubia) and inedible prey (firebug - Pyrrhocoris apterus) was tested with respect to other visual traits (shape of legs, antennae, means of locomotion). To simulate more natural conditions, three different experiment types were carried out. Prey was presented either alternately (first roach or firebug) or simultaneously. Additionally, the effect of learning and memory was tested by the use of trial repetition during one session, and session repetition after one week.
Human`s reaction to the red firebug's (\kur{Pyrrhocoris apterus}) coloration and it's modified coloration
VAŇKÁTOVÁ, Martina
So far, nobody examined a human reaction on aposematic signals. I used red firebug's coloration and its modifications in color and pattern for testing the human reactions. People showed refusing reaction on white color and on some types of eye spots. There is a big difference between reactions on red color and black color in different human groups. This needs further research.

The role of personility in bird reaction to conspiciously coloured prey
TESAŘOVÁ, Monika
Personality and individual differences in reactions of the Great tit to aposematic prey were investigated. The aim of this study was to assess differences in personality of forty Great tits and find out possible correlation to the reactions of these birds to aposematic prey, the fifth larval instar of firebug Pyrrhocoris apterus.
