Resilience and coping strategies of souls-like genre gamers
Bura, Jan ; Hrabec, Ondřej (advisor) ; Lukavská, Kateřina (referee)
The bachelor's thesis aims to find out whether there are differences in resilience and coping strategies between gamers - specifically between players of the souls-like genre and the normal population. To collect data, a questionnaire was constructed that included two standardized inventories, the Brief Resilience Scale (BRS) and the Brief-COPE. For the purpose of this thesis, the BRS-G inventory was also created, which is basically the BRS scale set in game environment. The questionnaire was subsequently posted to online forums and Facebook groups. Data was collected from a total of 147 respondents. Respondents were classified into 3 groups (souls-like gamers, regular gamers and non-gamers) based on time spent playing video games and preferences for the souls-like genre. The group of regular gamers was added as a control group to capture whether the difference between the groups was due to playing souls- like games or gaming in general. The Kruskal-Wallis test (i.e. a non-parametric version of ANOVA) and subsequent post-hoc tests were the main methods used to detect differences. Differences in coping strategies were minimal, almost nonexistent - the only significant difference was found in emotion-focused strategies, which was most likely related to gender (women showed higher values). In the area...

As the results illustrate, the state and media sector in both countries consider trust in the media as a crucial factor in resilience against disinformation and countering disinformation. Journalists' perspectives on the subject are similar in both countries, while the approaches of national officials are to a certain extent differen. In the Czech Republic, national officials express a stronger criticism regarding the quality of media on the national level, at the same time, a passive approach to building their trust. On the other hand, national officials in Slovakia depict a greater eagerness to contribute to trust in media. However, it is often diminished by a lack of resources or political will. Abstinence among young adults
Dočkalová, Barbora
Based on current research and yearly reports of consumption of addictive substances where the Czech Republic repeatedly ends up at the top of the rankings while also having fewer people who abstain from addictive substances in comparison to European standards, we've decided to understand more about the experience of people who abstain. So far the research wasn't too focused on the people who abstain from addictive substances therefore the aim of this work is to get a holistic perspective of their lives. A group of young adults who have been abstaining from addictive substances for some time and therefore can reflect on their experiences have been selected as participants in the study. Fifteen different experiences with abstinence have been collected through semi-structured interviews. The first phase of data analysis (Analysis I) reviews and compares the responses, and in the second phase (Analysis II) we've worked with the central category that is common among the interviews. Psychological resilience has been established as a strong common basis among all respondents which represents a supportive factor against conformity to a society that has different patterns of consumption of addictive substances than respondents. In the final section of the thesis, we've suggested a dynamic model of factors...

Koroleva, Alena ; Daďová, Klára (advisor) ; Pavlová, Ilona (referee)
Title: The relationship of perceived quality of life, sport engagement and psychological resilience of para swimmers. Objectives: The main aim of the thesis is to investigate whether selected traits in the area of psychology (resilience, hardiness, grit) are related to perceived quality of life and sport engagement of para swimmers. Furthermore, whether we can predict quality of life and sport engagement based on these characteristics. Methods: Thirty-two adult respondents (13 females, 18 males), aged 19 to 59 years (mean age 29.2±8.5 years), participated in a survey. Data were collected using a questionnaire focusing on general information, life satisfaction, grit, resilience, sport commitment and hardiness (Martin et al., 2015), which was translated into czech by Jiskrova (2019). Results: Life satisfaction (LS) is statistically significantly correlated with resilience (r=0.61) and hardiness (r=0.41). Sport engagement (SE) was only statistically significantly correlated with hardiness (r=0.46). Life satisfaction, based on regression analysis, can be best predicted from resilience, which explains LS from about 37 %. SE can only be predicted from hardiness, which can explain SE from about 21 %. Key words: physical disability, para sport, endurance, mental toughness, grit, resilience, hardiness
