Reproductive strategies of Czech families in the period of 1948-1989
HRNEČKOVÁ, Michaela
The bachelor's thesis deals with the reproductive strategies of Czech families. Firstly the term family is defined from the point of view of several authors. Then the basic functions of family are characterized. The thesis solves the values of traditional and modern family, it's roles and it reminds the changes of the family's character, too. It also entertains the brief summary of biological, economic, psychological and social factors which influence the reproductive behavior of people. In the next part of the thesis the reproductive strategies according to Pierre Bordieu are delimited. The following chapter deals with family during the communist regime. Then the thesis introduces the reader to a family policy and with the measures that are issued by the State to support the family life (the material security of children, the newlywed loans, financial relief for the families with children etc.). The focus is especially on the description of the selected financial incentives and laws that are devoted to the influence of policy on the demografic development and the summary of marriages, natality, divorce rate and abortion during the monitored period.
