The role of annotations of fiction works (the use of annotations in public libraries)
Camfrla, Štěpán ; Buřilová, Marcela (advisor) ; Hubrtová, Jitka (referee)
This thesis concerns the role of annotations of fiction works, and it describes the significance of annotation, its functions, as well as its actual use in public libraries. The thesis shows the clash between theoretical expectations and practical results. In theory, annotation is presented as an autonomous literary text the purpose of which is to present the reader with accurate and appropriate information about the books available in a library's Online Public Access Catalog. In practise, however, libraries have been trying to provide information at all costs, shifting away from creative methods of annotating. The closing chapter gives a glimpse of possible future development of the issue.

Based on this notion I evaluate the possibility of intentional education that could ease and support adaptation process. I try to identify core needs and themes that educational activities should comprehend to fulfil the desired form of education. Later I am questioning to which extent is possible to influence an integration process by educational action. Second part of the thesis is dedicated to a European project called Libraries for All which was aimed to promote upgrade of multicultural services in local public libraries. My aim is to present the current trend in librarianship and migrant work within culturally diverse societies.

Čadra, Martin ; Wolna, Martina
Dovedete si představit své akce bez dobrovolníků? My v třinecké knihovně NE! Všechno to nenápadně začalo v roce 2004. Od té doby pomáhalo knihovně už několik desítek dobrých duší, bez kterých by mnohé z akcí ani nebyly. Nebude to žádné akademické nebo vědecké pojednání. Bude to prezentace o akcích jedné obyčejné městské knihovny. Pro knihovníky možná motivační a inspirační, pro studenty možná i poučná a pro ty ostatní? Možná překvapující. A možná se sami budete chtít stát dobrovolníkem v té své knihovně…
