Interpretation of Sleeping Beauty from a depth psychology point of view
ULMANOVÁ, Veronika
The bachelor thesis deals with the fairy tale of Sleeping Beauty in the conception of students of the Studio of Art Therapy at the Faculty of Education of the University of South Bohemia. The theoretical part of the thesis focuses on basic concepts and explains its conception from the perspective of psychoanalysis and analytical psychology. The next part introduces Projective intervention Art Therapy, its theoretical background, method and art techniques used in the thesis. The following chapters present the most widespread variants of the story of Sleeping Beauty and its interpretations. The research is based on a total of 78 artifacts (35 thematic watercolors, 43 collages) from 38 students of Art Therapy and on interviews with four of students. The analysis of artifacts shows us that the most common portrayed parts of the Fairy tale story of Sleeping Beauty are the stages of the plot of the story (from the stage of the sleeping princess to her awakening). The interviews tell us that artifacts can be used primarily when it is dealt with topics related to the individual's identity. That contains all the areas that need to be worked out on this path - bad features, parental complex, the connection between our head and our heart, relating to others, etc.
