Philosophy for Children as Means of Preventing Socio-Pathological Phenomena in Extracurricular Activities

The thesis treats the usage of Philosophy for Children, a program focused on fostering critical, creative and caring thinking in children, as means of preventing socio-pathological phenomena. The first part describes the work of an after-school care centre, and also briefly describes socio-pathological phenomena that can arise in an after-school care centre as well as their causes. The second part introduces Philosophy for Children as well as the Canadian program of La Traversée focused on violence prevention. The third part examines the possibilities of using the program as means of violence prevention in an after-school care centre. Conclusion outlines suggestions for further research and comparison with other countries.
