Prevention of domestic violence from the perspective of social work

The bachelor thesis deals with the prevention of domestic violence from the perspective of social work. In the first chapter I deal with the introduction to the issue of the phenomenon itself, what are its forms, character and features. In the second chapter I present social work focused on working with victims and cooperation with state administration in solving this problem, solution options and types of help. In the third chapter I deal with the prevention of domestic violence, what role social work plays in the field of prevention and what is the subsequent support to victims.

Title: Domestic violence and its prevention Abstract The purpose of my thesis is to analyze the issues of domestic violence, outline the basic characteristics of its essential aspects and focus on preventive measures of protection against domestic violence, especially the applicable legislation of the Czech Republic. The paper is divided into four chapters. The first chapter contains the characteristics of domestic violence as a criminological concept. At first there is a definition of the phenomenon of violence as the intentional act involved in the maltreatment and abuse. The second subchapter presents actual domestic violence which is explained by a description of its elements, types and forms, its process, method of identifying and documenting its causes. Chapter One concludes with a part regarding myths prevailing in the society about domestic violence. The following chapter focuses on violent persons and endangered individuals by domestic violence. The aim of this chapter is to describe the profile of both actors regardless of the gender expectations. Subchapter relating to endangered individuals includes the definition of victim and further discusses long term psychological consequences of abuse and specific groups of endangered individuals. Předložená diplomová práce řeší problematiku domácího násilí jako společenského feno- ménu soudobým pohledem psychologie, kriminologie, práva a prevence. Cílem této práce je rozbor fenoménu domácího násilí po psychologické, kriminologické a právní stránce. Tato práce rozebírá jednotlivé právní nástroje, konkrétní trestné činy v kontextu domácího ná- silí, ale také prevenci a osvětu. Práce je zaměřena na dopad domácího násilí na děti, dále na jednotlivé trestné činy související s domácím násilím a také na prevenci domácího násilí, poradenství a kontext s Istanbulskou úmluvou. 1

Knowledge of the pupils of the selected secondary school about the issue of domestic violence

This bachelor thesis deals with the issue of domestic violence. The introduction explains the choice of this topic and also the definition of domestic violence on the basis of a literature search as well as outlines the basic division of domestic violence and its history. This part is devoted to the analysis of the personality of the victim and the aggressor. Legislative framework of the Czech Republic which relates to issues of domestic violence is listed here and it also presents a list of selected organizations that are engaged in assistance to people endangered by domestic violence. The practical part presents the author's quantitative research carried out as an anonymous questionnaire addressed to selected pupils at selected secondary schools. At first the pupils filled in a pre-test, then attended a discussion about the issue of domestic violence and later filled out the same questionnaire again. This way the author found out the initial knowledge about the issue of domestic violence of the students as well as their knowledge after attending the discussion.
