Použití různých mléčných krmných směsí ve výživě telat
Divišová, Markéta
The aim of this diploma thesis is to evaluate the weight, hip height differences, and the occurrence of diarrhea in calves, which were fed with various milk compound feed. The experiment was conducted on 26 Holstein calves divided into 2 groups (n = 13). The control group was fed by milk compound feed Startino (Sano) and the experimental group with milk compound feed LilaCitro (Sano). The control compound feed was a skimmed milk type and the experimental compound feed was a whey type. Feeding went on the identical schedule. The experimental compound feed was used from the 3rd week as at this age, the calf is able to digest whey. In evaluated parameters (weight, gain, hip height, diarrhea occurrence), there were not found any statistically significant differences between the groups (p>0,05). The economical aspect of different feeding compounds was evaluated as well. The overall expenses of milk compound feed of the experimental group are 1 652,02 CZK lower than those of the control group. Given that we did not find out any statistically significant differences in weight, hip height, and diarrhea occurrence but there is the evident difference in the expenses of compound feed, it is feasible to recommend and use cheaper milk compound feed of whey type.
The role of the pediatric nurse in the prevention of infectious gastroenteritis in the pediatric ward.
CARDOVÁ, Barbora
The master thesis focuses on the role of a pediatric nurse in the prevention of infectious gastroenteritis in the pediatric departments. In the theoretical part of the thesis the focus is paid to general information concerning gastroenteritis and preventive measures in case they occur in the pediatric departments. In the empirical part of the thesis three goals are set. 1. Evaluate the health literacy of pediatric nurses working in the maternity ward and pediatric department in the field of pediatric gastroenteritis. 2. To assess the health literacy of pediatric nurses working in pediatric departments in the field of preventive measures against the spread of gastroenteritis in maternity wards and pediatric departments. And the 3rd last goal was to determine the opinions of pediatric nurses working in primary care and in pediatric departments regarding the optional vaccination of children against rotavirus. This part of the thesis deals with the analysis of data obtained using a self-administrated questionnaire. Questionnaires were given in the Hradec Králové region to nurses working in the pediatric and maternity departments of four local hospitals and to nurses in primary care at general practitioners for children and adolescents. The return of properly completed questionnaires was a total of 146, of which 110 questionnaires were from inpatient departments and 36 questionnaires from primary care. The research has shown that nurses have knowledge in the field of gastroenteritis, but they are not 100% informed. In the area of preventive measures of the spread of gastroenteritis, both research groups of nurses are very well oriented, and additionally nurses from primary care have a more positive opinion regarding the vaccination against rotavirus than nurses from inpatient departments. The output of the master thesis is a educational material for nurses, focused on the prevention of transmission of infectious gastroenteritis in pediatric inpatient departments.
Využití řas v prevenci a terapii průjmových onemocnění selat

This thesis is aimed to study the effect of product SeaGut, made from sea algae, on prevention and treatment of diarrhoea of suckling piglets. Here was created 8 groups of piglets (4 control groups and 4 experimental groups) within the experiment. In control group, there was used standard treatment of piglets after farrowing, with anticoccidic Cevazuril, active substance toltrazuril. Treatment of occuring diarrhoea was solved by antibiotics – Betamox. In experimental group, anticoccidics and antibiotics were replaced with SeaGut paste. At the same time, piglets of experimental group were fed by mineral feed containing bentonite and zeolithe. During the experiment, health condition was regurarly observed and recorded. Results between groups was statistically compared. Diarrhoea occured on 16th day at piglets within the experimental group, witch is earlier than at piglets withing the control group (20th day). But in the experimental group, there were less piglets with diarrhoea, as well as number of dirrhoea recurrence. Number of deaths of piglets in experimental group was as well low, but this parametr was not statistically significant (P > 0,05). Preventive and therapeutic usage of products containing algae led to significantly better results in treatment of diarrheal diseases of piglets (P < 0,05). The experiment demonstrated the suitability of using SeaGut in the prevention and treatment of diarrheal diseases of piglets as an alternative to the preventive use of anticoccidics and the therapeutic use of antibiotics.
Possibilities of the application of supplemental and nonconventional methods in prevention and health care in calves

Diarrheal diseases of calves are one of the most serious risks of rearing calves and cause economic losses. For this reason, the objective of this work was to assess the influence of means of support in operating conditions for the incidence of diarrheal disease in calves in the early post-weaning stages. A company was chosen for this work in which both the company employees and an external veterinarian were willing to collaborate and provide not only information about the breed in question, but also biological material. This company was JINOS - AGRO Veselí nad Lužnicí. The calves were observed in the period of April - June 2009. The calves were housed in separate boxes the second day after birth until the average age of 56 days. After storage, they were divided into 5 groups: 4 based on the chosen means of support, and a single control group. Faeces samples were collected from the calves and subsequently evaluated. The calves to whom were administered means of support were then evaluated to assess the effect thereof on the incidence of diarrhea, the duration of diarrhea, the method of treatment, and the duration of treatment. The results were summarized and analyzed using a statistical program (STATISTICA 7.0.). There was no statistically significant difference found between the individual groups and the experimental group. An evident and statistically significant difference was found only in the case of a difference between the drugs of the 2 experimental groups, specifically between Lactovita and Homeopatika. Based on this observation, it can be stated that there was no evidence supporting the effectiveness of administered means of support for the incidence of diarrheal disease in calves in the early post-weaning stages.
Possibilities of the application of supplemental and nonconventional methods in prevention and health care in calves

Diarrhoeas in calves pose one of the most serious risks of calf management and cause economic losses. This is the reason why the objective of this paper was to evaluate in operation conditions the effect of selected dietary supplements on the frequency of diarrhoea occurrence in calves in the first stages of the period after weaning for milk nutrition. An agricultural enterprise where the workers were willing to cooperate and provide the biological material was selected: ZEFA Volary. In 2005 {--} 2008 calves were examined from 3 to 6 weeks of age on average. After filling the facility, the calves were divided into a control and experimental group. Blood and faeces samples were taken in selected calves of both groups and subsequently they were evaluated. The calves were treated with dietary supplements and their effect on the frequency of diarrhoeas was subsequently evaluated on the basis of the results of blood examination and recorded data (diarrhoea occurrence, diarrhoea duration, length of treatment, method and length of treatment, date of filling the facility and date of calf load-out, weight at the time of filling and load-out). The results were summarised and evaluated by a statistical programme (STATISTICA 7.0.). No statistically significant difference was proved between the particular calves of the control and experimental group. Based on our observations the effects of the treatment with dietary supplements on the frequency of diarrhoea occurrence in calves were not satisfactory in the first stages of the period after weaning for milk nutrition. But it is to state that some tendencies to reach a higher average weight gain were observed in calves of the experimental group in applied dietary supplements even though these results were statistically insignificant.
