Optimization of wax pattern technology in the company Fimes

This thesis is to evaluate currently used wax and compare its properties with of newly purchased one. Further, it is to evaluate whether the quality is reflected by using "boiled wax'', which is being used as a runner wax. All tests were carried out at the Fimes a. s. In the first part of this thesis, there is a brief description of the lost wax method. This is followed by a decription of wax blends from technology point of view. The experimental part describes the operations from the production of wax patterns, through their dimensional inspection, up until dewaxing process. All the results are noted and compared.
Nuclear Fuel and its Behavior during Burn-up

The point of this bachelor’s thesis is to characterize different types of nuclear fuels and their behaviour during the process of burning-up. Futher, basic types of nuclear reactors are mentioned, as well as their history and different kinds of nuclear fuels used in these reactors. Then there are pieces of information about fuel cycles and fuel burning-up. Furthermore, the thesis concentrates on the changes, which happen in the nuclear fuel during the process of burning-up, such as swelling and cracking. In its other parts, this bachelor’s thesis deals with fission products, mainly gas fission products are mentioned here. At the end of this thesis, a simple model of nuclear fuel burning-up is created. This model follows concentration of izotopes of uranium and plutonium during fuel burning-up.
Measurement of dynamic characteristic of check valves

Master thesis presents overview of existing types of check valves, their features, uses and issue called "cracking". Experimental part of this thesis focuses on the lift and swing check valves. Results of the measurement are evaluated from non-stationary flow point of view by developing and analyzing static and dynamic characteristics. This thesis takes into account losses and dynamic effects as main viewpoints. Two methods for measuring non-stationary velocities are used. Direct method called Gibson and indirect method laser doppler anemometry. Goal of the master thesis is to increase understanding of the check valves and their applicability.
