Trends in the japanese labor market

Japanese system of employment enjoyed great popularity during the economic boom of Japan. Traditional principles of lifetime employment and seniority-based system have been widely used in most large companies. However, japanese labor market did not manage to adapt to changes at a global level in time and traditional principles of employment stopped working effectively. The aim of the thesis is to describe, analyze and evaluate the current situation in the Japanese labor market and outline possible future development. The key points are selected problems in the labor market, which Japan must face, especially the dualism in the labor market, the aging population and the status of women in the labor market. The partial objective will also be to assess the impact of labor market problems for the whole Japanese economy.
