ŠIMKOVÁ, K. Supporting the development of polytechnic education in the South Moravian Region: a case study of SVČ Lužánky. Diploma thesis. Brno: Mendel University in Brno, 2023. The thesis deals with polytechnic education in leisure centres in the South Moravian Region. The interest in craft professions is still decreasing and one potential approach to the solution is to strengthen the attractiveness of leisure activities focused on polytechnics. The main objective of the thesis is to present the possibilities of development of polytechnic education through the activities of a selected leisure facility SVČ Lužánky, where the South Moravian Region is the founder. The theoretical part contains the main definition of the concept of polytechnic education and its anchoring in strategic documents at the national and regional level. The practical part of the thesis presents the results of the questionnaire survey and interviews with representatives of the selected institutions. Subsequently, recommendations and suggestions for other leisure centres on how to promote polytechnic education effectively are formulated.

This diploma thesis is aimed at polytechnic education, which is a part of strategic planning of the regions of the Czech Republic. The first part of thesis is devoted to the analysis of necessary literature. This part describes the concepts of polytechnic education, the STEM concept, strategic planning and what is a strategic plan. The polytechnic education is an integral part of strategic planning in the Czech Republic. The main goal of this work is to evaluate the current ways of supporting the development of polytechnic education. The practical part of this thesis includes the characterization of the area of interest, the anchoring of polytechnic education in strategic documents of the Czech Republic, access to support of polytechnic education and motivation for support. It also evaluates semi-structured interviews of education departments in the regions of the Czech Republic, which are central to fulfilling the goal of this thesis. In the final part of this thesis, recommendations are proposed for regional representatives of education departments that could lead to an improvement of the situation of polytechnic education in the Czech Republic.
