The aim of the project is to analyse the question of the Olympic Games by means of the application of the political and cultural values of the Chinese society. The thesis is divided into six chapters. The first three chapters are paid to the problems which are connected with the grant of the organisation of the Olympics Games and the historical background. The forth chapter deals with the Olympic mascots, the official logo and the motto of the Olympic Games, especially from the symbolical point of view. The fifth, and the most important part, is the application of Chinese political and cultural values on the opening ceremony. The last chapter concerns the medal ambitions of China. The conclusion is a summary of the thesis and serves as a brief review of the ascertained facts.
