Bachelor thesis is about one of the largest show trials in Moravia, which happened between the 7th and 11th February 1950. Its goal is to discover the reason behind accusing these people and how it was related to their political affiliation. It also explores the investigation and the trial as a whole. The work also investigates how the show trial was shown in the newspapers and how the media tried to influence the public. An important goal is also to analyze the features that this show trial has in common with other show trials of this period in Czechoslovakia. The most significant part of the work is devoted to the analysis and interpretation of archival materials available for this show trial. Letters from Milada Horáková - their path and media coverage following 1989

This bachelor thesis focuses on the letters from Milada Horáková, their journey from writing to getting to the hands of her family and their publication, and the associated post-1989 media coverage. The thesis thus aims to describe the different stages of the letters' path and to uncover a part of their journey not known to the public. Furthermore, it sets out to analyse the post-1989 media coverage of the letters up to the present day, using qualitative content analysis of documentary films and series that mention the last letters and were produced after 1989, and relevant national print media articles published after 1989. Along with this, it compares the description of the path of the letters in the analysed material to the one in this thesis. The introduction contains a historical context in which the topic is set, the life of Milada Horáková, and the political trial, therefore the events leading up to the writing of the letters. The following chapters cover the contents of each letter and their publication in 1990. With regard to the development of the health status of the Czech population, the thesis aims to contribute to the understanding of the policy-making processes related to the specific part of the health policy (health promotion and primary prevention of non-communicable diseases) on the national level in the Czech Republic, as well as to discuss possible future development in this area. Political Process in the selected municipality (Jindřichův Hradec)

This thesis is focused on factors that affect the nature of the local political process in Jindřichův Hradec. It characterizes the main socio-economic indicators of the municipality, the evolution of the local politics and actors of the political process. The main goal of the thesis is to find out whether the citizens of Jindřichův Hradec voted the certain political party because of their sympathy for the well-known person in the leading position or because of their political programme. The theoretical basis describes the political process through the municipal self-government of the Czech Republic to the political participation of citizens. The socio-economic and demographic characteristics of the town is a transition between theoretical and practical part. It includes city characteristics, population information, demography, geography and education. The following practical part examines the individual years of municipal elections. Monitoring and comparing election results include the elections between 2002 and 2018. The data are gathered through the study of documents and information from the Czech Statistical Office and a questionnaire survey. The output of the practical part is that the personality of Stanislav Mrvka had a positive effect on the success of the CSDP (ČSSD) party in Jindřichův Hradec.
Media education in teaching of history of the post-February Czechoslovakia (including the South Bohemian region)

The presented thesis deals with the period 1948-1960 in Czechoslovakia in the teaching of history from the perspective of media education. Media education, as one of the cross-cutting themes of the Framework Educational Programmes, is conceived here mainly in terms of the influence of the media on public opinion. Based on the analysis of current history textbooks, the work deals with topics that are a suitable example of contemporary communist propaganda. Among the selected topics are political persecution, the currency reform of 1953, the reflection of propaganda in art and the campaign accompanying the fight against the potato beetle. The core of the work is the publication of materials, especially of a written and visual nature, which appropriately illustrate contemporary propaganda. At the very end of the work presents several model worksheets for teaching history, which are based on these materials.
The Expertise of Political Parties on the Example of Presidental Elections in the Czech Republic

The Diploma Thesis is based on the Case study of the direct election of the President of the Czech Republic. Due to this Case study it examines expertise of the Czech political parties. Is there any expertise in political parties represented in the Parliament of the Czech Republic? Why analytical capacities have (or not have) influence on policy decisions? In theoretical concept including democracy, policy work, expert capacities, elections etc. the Thesis examines the relationship between the expertise of political parties and enactment of the direct presidential elections.
Trial as a Theatre - Milada Horáková Trial and its Literary and Theatre Adaptations

This diploma thesis deals with the theatricality of Milada Horáková and company trial and its theatrical reflections. In this thesis, the political trial is regarded as an ideological fiction on the grounds of the ritual and theatrical character. The dramas, which are inspired with this trial, are interpreted in the following chapters. First of them, it deals with Pařeniště by E. F. Burian in the context of the socialist realism, which was put on the stage in a short time after this trial. It paid attention to re-putting on the stage in 2008 as well. The last part of this thesis deals with contemporary productions, which are inspired with this trial (Horáková, Gottwald by Karel Steigerwald and opera Tomorrow will... by Aleš Březina and Jiří Nekvasil), which depict absurdity and bizzare atmosphere of this trial.
Introduction of Compulsory Pre-school Education in the Czech Republic.

This diploma thesis is focused on the implementation of a specific measure within the educational policy in the Czech Republic. The aim of the work is to describe the introduction of regulation in the form of compulsory pre-school education in terms of setting the agenda and its subsequent enforcement. Furthermore, the aim of the work is to explain the introduction of regulation with respect to the arguments of individual actors. There is a wide range of actors who comment on the issue, these actors form a coalition that shares their beliefs. It is important to mention that the topic of integrating socially disadvantaged children into society is a much- discussed and sensitive topic also at the international level. Another goal of the work is to capture and describe the discussions concerning the functioning of regulation after its introduction, in connection with stakeholders or published research. This description will also include an analysis of public opinion towards the main idea of regulation (public attitude to the policy pursued). An image of the 1949 hockey world champions in contemporary newspapers and its use in propaganda

This thesis deals with the image of the ice hockey generation at the turn of the 1950's in the contemporary press, the fate of the 1949 ice hockey world champions, the course of the trial with the group of Bohumil Modrý. In detail it analyses mainly the important ice hockey tournaments in the years 1947, 1948 and 1949 and the image of the national ice hockey team in contemporary press, which underwent a transformation between the years 1947 and 1949. Next part of this work focuses on the tragic occasions of the year 1950 and final section covers the year 1968 when the convicted ice hockey players were vindicated.
Political trials led by the communist regime against women in the case of Milada Horáková, Fráňa Zemínová and Antonie Kleinerová and their media representation in the Czech press of the time

The aim of this thesis is to analyze media reprezentation of three women in the trial Milada Horáková et al. in May and June 1950 concocted by four Czech leading Daily Newspapers of the time. It tries to evaluate the picture of women as an enemy for the communist regime. This Soviet style show trial represents some of the worst excesses of the communist regime in Czechoslovakia in the fifties. In the theoretical part, it describes political, economical and social changes after the Communist takeover in February 1948. It points out the reasons for establishing and designing political trials in Czechoslovakia. The practical part represents the results of a basic quantitative analysis focused on size and its comparision of media attention of Milada Horáková, Frána Zemínová and Antonie Kleinerová in each newspaper and an interpretation of all different pictures of these women which the media offered to the public. This thesis reveals how the communist propaganda was used to identify the class enemy and then misused it to manipulate a public perception.
