Limits and Barriers of Interprofessional Cooperation within the Residential Social Service of a Home for the Elderly.

The aim of the research was to find out the limits and barriers to the work of the interprofessional team of a specific home for the elderly. The research concentrated on the setting, functionality, and coordination of the interprofessional team by the organization's management, including its self-regulation and also the ability to work consciously with the professional multi-discipline. The method of qualitative questioning was used as part of the qualitative research strategy. Data were obtained from informants, members of the interprofessional team of the home for the elderly. Firstly, data were got through narrative interviews using the Focus Groups method with random groups of informants. Then semi-structured interview with 6 chosen informants was used. It was important to compare the position of the professional groups of the interprofessional team, from the data collected. The data provided by the observation method were also supplemented. Interpretative phenomenological analysis using Atlas.ti 9 was used to evaluate the provided data. The research was done in August 2023. The secured limits and barriers to the work of the interprofessional team are the benefit of the research. These provide insight into the issues of interprofessional teamwork, it means building an interprofessional team and, above all, its sustainability and functionality. Lack of staff, lack of coordination and communication, insufficient knowledge of the nature of the interprofessional team, insufficient management support, not enough harmonization, uncorrected position of professional groups, low emotional presence within the team were found. The main barriers were staff turnover, inconsistency in staff thinking, lack of shared goals, burnout syndrome, low external and inner motivation of staff. Limits and barriers to the work of the interprofessional team can be strategically processed. Through this processing, the management of the organization can further fulfill its mission and goals in the form of work with the capacity of human resources. The list of limits and barriers gained by this research can also be a confrontational material for other organizations.

Given the ageing of the population, it is desirable to develop a concept of a long-term residential care system for the elderly, the integral part of which is to provide activation. Activities and therapies implemented in a retirement home have an irreplaceable role not only in the complex care for seniors but also in the context of community based rehabilitation in old age. The aim of the thesis was to find out what activities and therapies are provided in the retirement homes. The objectives were to find out: 1. What types and forms of activities and therapies are provided in the retirement homes; 2. What terminology is used in connection with providing activation; 3. Whether a concept or model of care is used in the retirement homes; 4. Whether the retirement homes have been awarded the Quality Score in Social Services of the Association of Social Services Providers of the Czech Republic; 5. Who in the retirement home is responsible for coordinating activation; 6. The position and education level of the staff providing activation; 7. Whether there is a sufficient number of activation workers in the retirement homes; 8. Whether the retirement homes have sufficient funds for activation; 9. Whether the retirement homes have a methodology for providing activation; 10. The difficulties related to the provision of activation and therapies in the retirement homes from the point of view of the staff. The objectives set were achieved through a quantitative research strategy. The polling method with the help of a questionnaire of own construction were selected for date collection and the heads of the retirement homes and the staff providing activation were addressed. The mathematical and statistical method was used to evaluate the empirical material. The result of quantitative research based on the deductive method is the description and analysis of activities and therapies in the retirement homes in the Czech Republic. The research has shown a statistically significant dependence between the founder and the provision of a concept or the model of care in the retirement homes. A statistically significant correlation was found between the number of animal-assisted therapies provided in the retirement homes and the certification of facilities by the so-called Quality Score in Social Services. A statistically significant relationship between the seniority of the head of the retirement home and the availability of funding for activation has been demonstrated. There was a statistically significant dependency between the type of the founder and the provision of a concept or the model of care in the retirement homes. A statistically significant correlation between the seniority of the head of the retirement homes and the development of a methodology for providing activation has been demonstrated. The thesis provides a comprehensive view of the issue of activities and therapies implemented in the retirement homes in the Czech Republic. The acquired knowledge will be used as a basis for the preparation of materials and the concept of animal-assisted therapy in the area of care for seniors, on which the author of the thesis would like to participate in the following years in cooperation with non-profit organizations engaged in practicing animal-assisted therapy in the Czech Republic. The results of the thesis will be presented to the Association of Social Service Providers of the Czech Republic, as a professional organization associating providers of social services, in order to use the obtained results in the update and review of the activation documents. The results may be useful for the staff of the retirement homes in the development of the methodology of educational, training and activation activities in the context of community based rehabilitation. The results obtained will be passed on to the workers in social services and social workers through the author's publication and lecture activities as well as in the provision of supervision.
Socio-economic context of the care subsidy

This thesis Socio-economic context of the care subsidy is engaged in mapping the evidence of contributions to the care subsidy of social services users in Domov Rožďalovice and comparing them, particularly in the two offered social services - Homes for the elderly and Homes with a special regime. The theoretical part is drawn from available literature and the internet sources relating to the chosen topic. The first chapter explains the functions and principles of social policy, welfare state is characterized and described pillars of the social system in the Czech Republic. The next chapter follows the characteristics of social services, their types, forms, financing and legislative regulation. The third chapter is the core of the theoretical part, there is a description of the care allowance, their aims, above, the financial cost and to whom the care allowance intended. It is also discussed about the process for gain the care subsidy, and its effectiveness. The practical part describes the selected organization Domov Rožďalovice and then described the procedure how to calculate the monthly cost of social services users in Domov Rožďalovice. In the second chapter of the practical part are evaluated results of the survey, which was conducted with clients of the Home of the elderly and. Home with a special regime. Consequently, this part continues with semi-structured interviews guided relating to social and economic characteristics of the chosen topic. At the conclusion of the evaluation is processed and the results are set out proposals for corrective action.
