Description of Relation between Flow and Suspended Sediment Load in a Hydromertic Profiles of a Selected Rivers
Bobková, Dominika ; Janál,, Petr (referee) ; Marton, Daniel (advisor)
The issue of the relationship between water discharge and the suspended sediment loads is a globally highly addressed topic. Knowing the suspended sediment loads in the streams avoids problems with over-filling of water cannons and thus prevents insufficient capacity of water reservoirs. This thesis is partly a follow-up to the bachelor thesis, which extends and introduces new procedures. Neural networks, more specifically multilayer perceptron neural networks, are used to analyse the relationship between water discharge and suspended sediment loads. The results of the networks are then processed in Excel into graphs and evaluated using the coefficient of determination, Nash-Sutcliffe coefficient and RMSE coefficient. The practical application is solved on two profiles - the profile Podhradí nad Dyjí and the profile Židlochovice. Each profile is examined in a different period.
Estimation of the Sediment Balance in the Selected Hydrometric Profile
Priesner, Radek ; Paseka, Stanislav (referee) ; Marton, Daniel (advisor)
The aim of the bachelor thesis is to evaluate the balance of suspended sediment load, respectively undissolved substances carried in suspension in the selected hydrometric profile. The work also contains methodical instructions for measurement and subsequent evaluation of sediment load, based on the Austrian methodological manual Leitfaden zur Erfassung des Schwebstofftransportes (Habersack et al., 2017). The calculations will be used as a partial basis for the project ATCZ28 SEDECO – Sediments, ecosystem services and interrelation with floods and droughts in the AT-CZ border region. The practical application will be implemented on data measured in hydrometric profile Přibice on the River Jihlava where continuous measurement of suspended sediment load has been taking place since 2019.
Specification of the movement of sediments in the selected section of the flow in the vicinity of the polder Žichlínek
Kaizar, Jan ; Půža, Pavel (referee) ; Veselý, Jaroslav (advisor)
The bachelor thesis defines sediment transport in selected section of Moravská Sázava river, and Ostrovský potok stream in the area of Žichlínek detention basin. The first part of the thesis focuses on documentation of the current situation of the selected area. Following part deals with granulometric analysis of taken samples and their assessment. Next part is dedicated to calculation of the amount of the sediment, and suspended solids in the studied watercourses. The final part of the thesis describes as the sediment transport impacts on both the stream bed clogging, and the passage of a flood wave through the area.
Suspended Sediment Load Balance in a Selected Profiles of the Thaya and Svratka River Basins
Priesner, Radek ; Mikl, Libor (referee) ; Marton, Daniel (advisor)
The balance of suspended sediment, i.e. undissolved substances carried in suspension, load in the hydrometric profiles Hevlín/Thaya, Přibice/Jihlava, Znojmo/Thaya and Židlochovice/Svratka is evaluated in this thesis. The measurements and the subsequent evaluation of the suspended sediment are carried out according to the official Austrian methodological manual, so this paper is a continuation of the previously written bachelor thesis. In addition, the selected basic steps recommended by the Austrian methodology for the actual measurement of the suspended sediment are compared with official procedures from the United States and the Czech Republic. On top of that, the work comes with innovative ways of correcting the data measured by the optical probe. The results will be used in the project ATCZ28 SEDECO – Sediments, ecosystem services and interrelation with floods and droughts in the AT-CZ border region, from which the measurement records from 2019 to 2022 themselves are available. All results are also compared with the measurements of the Czech Hydrometeorological Institute.
Flood protection of City Chrudim
Kostelecký, Jiří ; Půža, Pavel (referee) ; Veselý, Jaroslav (advisor)
The bachelor thesis is focused on flood protection of Chrudim city. In the beginning the work is dedicated to documentation of the current condition of the watercourse Chrudimka and to flood control methods used on the river. The following part is dealing with records about floods in given area from history to present days. In the paper work is explained how to behave during the flood and which signals are there to inform. The last part is devoted to sediments in the Chrudimka River and to their impact on clogging of the watercourse of that river and to overall impact on the Elbe River.
Water management study at the upper part of the Štinkovka stream
Svoboda, Vojtěch ; Vrba, Jan (referee) ; Veselý, Jaroslav (advisor)
The diploma thesis deals with the study of water management in the upper part of the Štinkovka river basin based on water management analysis. In the past, there was water in the area that is currently lost. Therefore, a terrain reconnaissance was carried out in the thesis to identify problematic areas and to collect samples for laboratory analysis, which were used for sediment studies. Since 2017, water level monitoring has been carried out using an ultrasonic sensor. Measures are proposed to increase water retention in the landscape. The possibility of sports and recreational boating on the Přední rybník pond with a connection to a cycle path and increase public interest in the area are evaluated.
Revitalization of Jankovice stream
Mládek, Tomáš ; Vrba, Jan (referee) ; Veselý, Jaroslav (advisor)
The final thesis is focused on assessing the current state of hydrological system in the watershed area Jankovice stream and on draft proposal of food protection measures of the village Jankovice. In the first part of the thesis, there is documented the current situation Jankovice stream, its appreciation and draft measures for a improvement the current state. In the following part, there is the elaboration of the sediment transport balance in the stream. In the last part of the final thesis, there is documented the current state Jankovice stream in the village Jankovice and the stream regulation is designed for the purpose of flood protection of the village.
Study of use of former branches of the river Elbe and the links with the local flow in the village Hrobice
Mládek, Tomáš ; Vrba, Jan (referee) ; Veselý, Jaroslav (advisor)
The bachelor thesis is focused on assessing the current state of the hydrological system in the cadastral area Hrobice and on a draft proposal of flood protection measures. In the first part of the thesis, there is documented the current situation and its appreciation icluding experiences of inhabitants. In the following part, there are designed several potential drafts. The component of the second part is a draft of the canal for a recreational boating. The bachelor thesis also includes the elaboration of the sediment transport balance in Elbe and the impact of the sediment transport on surroundings nearby.
Water analysis and combating drought in the Rokytná river basin
Říha, Tomáš ; Vrba, Jan (referee) ; Veselý, Jaroslav (advisor)
This diploma thesis focuses on water management analysis of the Rokytná River and finding suitable precautions usable by municipalities when dealing with drought and lack of water in their administrative district. The short research at the beginning of the thesis summarizes problematic of drought and lack of water in the Czech Republic, including the current state and overall context. Next part focuses on the assessment of current state of the Rokytná River basin, based on performed reconnaissance of the basin and processed analysis of a part of the basin delimited from km 0,0 to km 16,7 of the river, between towns of Ivančice and Moravský Krumlov. This analysis concentrates on finding factors, which can contribute to extent of drought impact in this area. It also contains a suspended load study of the waterway, which writes up granularity characteristics and calculation of the amount of transported material from a suspended load sample, taken from the bed of the Rokytná River. The overview of suitable proceedings and precautions follows, based on findings in previous parts of the diploma thesis. The conclusion of this thesis consists of very suggestion of suitable steps and precautions related to particular localities in the Rokytná River basin. Target is to enhance the retention ability of the region and to minimize the impact of both drought and floods. The result of these actions should be the empowerment of environmental sustainability in this particular area. Conclusions of this thesis can be used by municipalities and other administrative bodies when creating an approach of combating drought and when deciding about the implementation of relevant precautions.
