Biomechanical Study of Human Mandible in Physiological State
Borák, Libor ; Horyl, Petr (referee) ; Bartáková, Sonia (referee) ; Janíček, Přemysl (referee) ; Florian, Zdeněk (advisor)
This study deals with the mechanical aspects of human mandible in physiological state during the occlusion. The work is focused on evaluation of stress-strain conditions of bone tissue. The emphasis is paid to the interaction of teeth with the bone. In addition, contact pres-sures in temporomandibular joints during various loading conditions were determined. The analysis of material model of some parts of the system regarding their modelling-level is pre-sented as well. The problem concerning the evaluation of stress-strain states is solved by computational simulation using the finite element method. The presented work is a detailed analysis of the parts of the masticatory system and a thorough description of their modelling is presented. Special focus is paid to modelling of cancellous bone as well as of periodontal tissue which mediates the interaction between a tooth and the alveolar bone. Three-dimensional geometry of the mandible and all its teeth has been obtained by using the digitizing of real objects, namely by using of three-dimensional optical scanner. Three various modelling levels of the material of periodontium are assessed: Linear iso-tropic model, bilinear isotropic model and linear orthotropic model. Characteristics of these models are analyzed and especially nine new constants describing orthotropic model (which is almost absent in the literature) are proposed. Two-dimensional models are used for analysis of differencies in mechanical response of cancellous bone to the tooth loading. Two cases are considered: Cancellous bone as a ho-mogenous continuous model on one hand and with detailed trabeculous architecture model on the other. Computational model is divided into four basic cases varying in level of masticatory appa-ratus geometry: A – 2D geometry of bone; B – 3D geometry of bone segment with one tooth through three teeth; C – 3D geometry of whole mandible with the only tooth; D – 3D geome-try of whole mandible with all teeth. All basic cases are further researched in different varia-tions for different material models etc.

The function of primary and secondary prevention in influencing occurrence reduction of periodontium ailments among older school-aged
KÁPLOVÁ, Hana
The Bachelor?s Thesis presented herein monitors the role of primary and secondary prevention among older school-aged children and its influence on reduction of occurrences of Periodontium diseases. Within the theoretical part of this Thesis I focused on delineation of important terminology with respect to preventive care of oral cavity, among which we recognize tooth cavities and ailments of gingiva. Within the practical part I focused on assertive examination of plaque and tartar; these help us, through a research methodology and investigative tooth indices API, PBI, CPITN to assess the level of oral health. Furthermore, educational materials are provided; for the necessary education in the area of dental hygiene, procedures for correct tooth cleaning techniques, and utilization of other tools for between-tooth cleaning. Consequent evaluation of graphic parts of work provide an evidence of the level of dental health.Concurrently, within my work, I have ascertained that within a larger proportion of patients a better conditions of Periodontium ensue, thanks to the educational program, as well as to better care of oral cavity within patient?s homes. Acquired knowledge, care of oral cavity and dental hygiene are important foundations to each individual, wishing to improve his or her dental health.
The effect of the dentition state on human´s overall health in the middle adulthood and the role of the health education in this area
TOGNER, Aleš
The objective of this thesis is to find out the importance and influence of dental condition on health in general, considering the physical and psychological health of the people in the middle adulthood and the role of education in this area. In the theoretical part, is described the structure of a tooth, temporary and permanent teeth, including the illnesses. Description of nature of the microbial plaque in the direct connection with the demage of hard dental tissue and periodontium. Here is also described the connection between dental condition and the general physical health. In the end of the theoretical part is elaborated the prevention, including the description of the dental care, using the available aids for dental care, fluoridation and nutrition. Because of the bad influence of the dental condition on physical health, is the practical part focused on mapping the knowledge level of people in their middle maturity, and the financial support for the dental care aids. There are written the results of my research, while applying the questionnaires to monitor the using and availability of dental aids, considering the prevention of the damage of teeth tissue and regular examination by dental specialist. Also was mapped the knowledge of the people in the middle adulthood considering the influence of the dental condition on health in general. The results are presented in charts and tables. In the end of the practical part are result from the research of the financial subsidies on dental aids by health insurance in the Czech republic and developing of the education program and educational flyer for the given age group.
