Konzumerismus jako pedagogický problém - vybrané aspekty
VANČURA, Jakub
This bachelor's thesis concentrates on consumerism as a pedagogical problem with an emphasis on the environment and modern technology. The thesis is divided into two parts. In the theoretical part of the thesis, the author tries to define consumerism, depicts its aspects, and describes its historical development. The author attempts to explain why children are the easy target of advertisements promoting consumer lifestyle and then highlights the positives and negatives connected to such lifestyle. The theoretical part of the thesis breaks down the impacts of this trend on the environment, and further points out the extensive use of modern technology, denoting those points as issues which the present-day society faces. The methodical part of the thesis is based on the Framework Education Programme, didactic literature, and the longtime experience of the teachers. Based on the acquired information, the author describes the possible solutions used when dealing with undesirable effects of consumerism executed by social science teachers teaching at the secondary school. Lastly, the author presents several designed lessons which are supposed to serve as inspiration for teachers struggling with how to approach and grasp such a challenging topic. This thesis aims to provide the reader with an overview of the issues of consumer lifestyle and present a layout of possible solutions to those issues from the perspective of the social science teacher teaching at the secondary school.
