Lachmanns Orchesterschule in Litoměřice/Leitmeritz and the Deutsche Musikakademie in Prague - two examples of patronage-sponsorship in the first half of the 20th century
Bajgarová, Jitka
Emanuel Lachmann (1846-1912), native of Prague, founded 1901 the Orchestral school in Litoměřice/Leitmeritz and gave to her a house, a library and music instruments. He was a director and financial supporter until his death. The Deutsche Akademie für Musik und darstellende Kunst in Prag start up 1920 with the division of the Prague conservatory to the Czech and German part. Hundreds of sponsors supported financially the school - small donators as well as banks and municipal authorities, especially in Prague and the Sudetenland.
