PACÁKOVÁ, Tereza
The theme of this bachelor thesis is the social work in schools. The aim of this thesis is to find out the opinions of parents of elementary school students about the possibility of a social worker operating at elementary schools. Nowadays, words such as social work or social worker are almost unknown in the Czech Republic. Legislative for school social work is missing as well as experts working in the field of social work. Cooperation with the families of students is an important part of school social work and therefore it is necessary to inquire about the parents' views of school social work. The qualitative method and semi-structured interview were used to reach this text's goal. The sample population was parents of elementary school pupils from České Budějovice. The sample size was eight people. Data were analyzed using open coding and are presented using categorization. The research results showed that most of the parents would welcome the social worker position in elementary schools. The parents would mostly use social worker in the problematic scenarios linked with the students' problematic behaviour and to gather information about the functioning of school. Parents agreed upon the social worker being an asset to school environment. Some parents showed uncertainty about the need for social worker and expressed the idea of specialized teachers who already work at schools being able to do school social work as well. What can certainly be told is that school social worker position would have a positive impact on elementary school environment.
