Who was your mother? Who are your uncles and aunts? The concept of family background and selected demographic phenomena in the work of Jane Austen in comparison with the Austen family and historical-demographic research for England at the turn of the 18th and 19th centuries

The presented master thesis deals with the work of Jane Austen. The author's novels are analysed from the perspective of the concept of the family, both from a literary and demographic point of view. These research questions constitutes two subject of the examination. The first subject is the family, as it is the cornerstone of Jane Austen's short stories. The objective of this work is to analyse the extent to which family relationships determine the possibilities of the main characters and heroines; how the heroines benefit from family ties or, on the contrary, want to escape from them. The conclusions show that Austen applied this determination in all studied novels. This work further examines the degree of cooperation and rivalry of the individual families in the novels. At this point, a significant diversity of interfamily relationships was found. Secondly, this work maps selected demographic idiosyncrasies in Jane Austen's family, in the families from her short stories, and in historical demographic studies of England at the turn of the 18th and 19th centuries. MICHÁLKOVÁ, Petra. Neoclassical Architecture in Bohemia - Examples of Kačina at Kutná Hora and Nový zámek in Kostelec nad Orlicí. A comparison of buildings and builders. Prague, 2020. Bachelors thesis. Charles University. Faculty of Education. My thesis deals with the topic of classicism in Bohemia using two using two particular examples of castles. In the first chapter, in the context of historical events, I place the concept of classicism, which I try to distinguish from the concept of the empire style and neoclassicism. I also deal with different developments in individual countries and how they influenced architecture in Bohemia. In the following part, I focus on specific buildings in Kačina near Kutná Hora and the New Castle in Kostelec nad Orlicí, where I will firstly describe the aristocratic families that owned the buildings. The analyse of the ideas that led to the building of the mansion follows, and then I move on to the architecture of the buildings. In the conclusions of these chapters I state what fate the building met and what their present state looks like. The last chapter is a comparison of buildings and builders. Children born out of marriage at the turn 18th and 19th centuries at the manor of Škvorec

The intention of this study is to analyze the change of the number of children born out of marriage at the manor of Škvorec during the period 1750-1849. The excerpts from parish registers was made to find number of children born out of marriage, their proportion of total births, their distribution by place of birth, seasonality and characteristics of their parents. The development of the number of illegitimate children at the manor is compared with the development in the Czech lands and at neighboring manor of Kostelec nad Černými lesy. The conclusion is that the proportion of children born out of marriage at the manor Škvorec as well as at neighboring manor increased from the twenties of the 19th century which was twenty years earlier than in the Czech lands on average. This increase was also more steep and disappeared sooner.

This thesis is concerned with places of pilgrimage in the Moravian region and it focuses especially their origin, cultural, architectural and historical significance. Attention is turned on the peak times of religious architecture: high and late Baroque, with a focus on selected key places of pilgrimage in Moravia. As a model place we have chosen the locality of Lutršték. In our thesis we propose a landscape analysis and a draft of reconstruction of the place and it's surroundings. This proposal is pictured in situation and in perspective views in annexes to this work.
