KOUKALOVÁ, Pavla
Volunteering may be currently encountered almost everywhere in the society. Volunteers help out in the area of culture and sports and in the social-health area. Their activity is also put to use e.g. in the removal of consequences of natural disasters. The theoretical part explains the terms volunteering and volunteer. It also describes the volunteer programme in the hospital, the stages of its implementation and the benefit of the volunteer activity for the patients. The objective of the thesis was to ascertain the benefit of the Volunteer Programme in Nemocnice České Budějovice, a.s. for the patients. In order to process the practical part, I selected the qualitative research. To collect the data, I used the method of questioning and the technique of a semi-directed interview. I interviewed five patients from the 2nd follow-up care ward and five patients from the oncology ward of Nemocnice České Budějovice, a.s. The result of the thesis is the finding that the greatest benefit as seen by the patients is the change in the hospital stereotype and the opportunity to have a talk with someone. In practice the thesis will be used as a feedback for the Volunteer Programme in Nemocnice České Budějovice, a.s.
Volunteering in the hospice
WEGEROVÁ, Lenka
The bachelor thesis deals with a theme of {\clqq}Volunteering in a hospice``. Currently we much more often meet volunteers and a volunteering. The volunteering is extremely important in the area of the health care, as people meet the volunteers and they can help them to overcome difficult life situations. It is very important even for the people who are seriously ill to feel a sense of their own meaning and they should know that they are needed and somebody cares for them. At people seriously ill or dying it is very important to maintain their quality of life. One way how to achieve it, is a presence of the volunteers in a hospice and their individual approach to each client. Suitably chosen activities, which the volunteer and the client perform together, also ensure that the clients do not feel alone and they feel useful. The main objective of the thesis is to describe the volunteering, volunteers´ activities, their motivation and contents of the volunteer´s activity in the hospice. A partial goal is to map benefits of the volunteering in the hospice in terms of staff and clients. I used a qualitative research, an interrogation method with a technique of a semi-controlled interview. The interviews were conducted with 15 hospice workers and with its 6 clients. This research was performed in the Hospice of St. Jan N. Neumann in Prachatice. I believe that the objectives of the bachelor thesis ``Volunteering in a hospice{\crqq} were met. The research showed that the hospice volunteers are a great asset for the hospice clients and the staff. It also showed that the clients are very happy when the volunteers visit them. The volunteers help them to forget their misery, they reduce their feeling of boredom, the clients feel a sense of their own meaning and that they are still important for someone. The workers of the Hospice of St. Jan N. Neumann in Prachatice see the great benefits of the volunteering. They are very glad that the volunteers visit their clients, because they attend to them and positively influence the client´s mood. Thanks to the volunteers the staff can care, due to the large amount of work, for other clients as well. The bachelor thesis can be used to expand an awareness of the volunteering in hospices. It also can be used as a feedback for the given establishment.
