Strešná záhrada ako progresívna forma mestského verejného priestoru

This thesis deals with a roof garden as an element that shapes an urban public space. The roof garden provides a unique space in ecosystem of the city and offers new forms and advantages as compared to existing roof structures. Theoretical part of this thesis discusses the development of roof gardens and defines their role in cities. It offers unique and innovative examples of the use of roof gardens in the world as well as in Czech Republic. The design study presents a roof garden on top of a new multifunctional building on St. Anna's Square in Trenčín. Roof garden at the level of parterre connects with the entire square and the entire ecosystem of the city.

This bachelor thesis deals with realization of the roof gardens. Their constructions are becoming more actual because green places are reduced at the expense of buildings construction in big cities. In this thesis, history and development of green roofs are evaluated. This project was complemented by technical details of green roofs design with usage of the most modern technologies and materials. Part of the thesis is dedicated to range of plants and selection of species for green roofs with the aim to fully utilize potential of green roof. Important part of the project is evaluation of realization of the model object with the green roof. In the end of this thesis, modern technologies are summarized and further application of green roofs in present is discussed. The appendix of the thesis presents various projects of green roofs located in the Czech Republic.

Využití a biotechnika vybraných vegetačních prvků na stavebních konstrukcích využívaných v současné zahradní a krajinářské tvorbě

This bachelor thesis deals with the use and maintenance of selected vegetation elements for building structures used in contemporary garden and landscape design, especially of green rous and green facades. The aim of the thesis is to make a recherche and evaluation of study material concerning the topic and their critical evaluation. Following part deals with selection options of the plant's material and sortiment suitable for green roofs constructions and green facades constructions and at selected representatives to process visual documentation of vegetation elements for building construction. Green facades are divided into climbing plants, that dominate in the exterior and vertical gardens are mainly seen in the interior. It is very important to differentiate various kinds of roof gardens with their specific demands on the building constructions as well as on the vegetation used for planting them. According to these criteria, roof gardens are divided into three categories: intensive, simple intensive and extensive. Currently the green roofs are not only designed due to architectonic requirements, but also the utility aspects come into considerations and well as environmental reasons.
