Biomass gasification with carbon dioxide
Budai, Karel ; Lisý, Martin (referee) ; Baláš, Marek (advisor)
This diploma thesis deals with the use of CO2 in gasification of biomass. The theoretical part is focus on description of gasification process and gasification reactors. The next part descripes the influence of the gasifitation medium composition on the properties of the generated gas. The experimental part is devoted to gasification of biomass on a fluidized bed generator, where the effect of CO2 concetration in the gasification medium on the properties of the generated gas is investigated. In the final part is the evaluation of the results.
Optical device for breath CO2 concentration analysis
Škorpík, Daniel ; Milek, Jakub (referee) ; Čmiel, Vratislav (advisor)
This Master's thesis discusses about the measurement of the carbon dioxide concentration in breathing by an optical analyzer using infrared absorption spectroscopy. The method is described with the technical focus on individual components needed for subsequent implementation. A circuit diagram is created to produce Arduino platform devices that serve as hardware to connect and power individual parts and software to create a user environment, followed by a Bluetooth module to transmit measured data to mobile devices where real-time results are presented.
Determination of emissions and harmful particles of exhaust gases of CNG, petrol and diesel vehicles
Rozsíval, Adam ; Libich, Jiří (referee) ; Bača, Petr (advisor)
The thesis deals with an analyses of emission and harmful particles of exhaust fumes of automobiles with an environmental impact. More precisely, it describes the basic characteristics of current fuel types and emission produced by internal combustion engines. Next, it deals with the measures and possibilities of decreasing car traffic emission with respect to environmental impact. It also describes the current European standards for emission and the systems of the cars that are able to decrease emission. The work also deals with the measuring of emission and the methods that are used. According to the measuring methods, the analysis of exhalation is done and it is based on the data of the real car fleet. Values of the emission analyses are compared. The financial aspect is a part of the analyses.
Electromobility, today and vision
Valíček, Roman ; Kracík, Petr (referee) ; Milčák, Pavel (advisor)
The main target of this bachelor thesis is to create an overview of current and future status of electromobility in the Czech Republic, including an analysis of possible impacts of this developing field to other sectors, especially energy industry and ecology. This work is divided into several sections. The first part is research and it deals with general knowledge related to electromobility at first and then it analyzes the current situation in our country. The electric vehicle charging and electromobility support are discussed in detail. The second part of the thesis focuses on the influence of electromobility growth on the power system and on the electromobile emission footprint. These chapters are based on self calculations and the results are evaluated at the end. The conclusion summarizes the findings and there is a comment about upcoming development of electromobility in the future.
Air Quality Analysis in Office and Residential Areas
Tisovčík, Peter ; Korček, Pavol (referee) ; Kořenek, Jan (advisor)
The goal of the thesis was to study the indoor air quality measurement focusing on the concentration of carbon dioxide. Within the theoretical part, data mining including basic classification methods and approaches to dimensionality reduction was introduced. In addition, the principles of the developed system within IoTCloud project and available possibilities for measurement of necessary quantities were studied. In the practical part, the suitable sensors for given rooms were selected and long-term measurement was performed. Measured data was used to create the system for window opening detection and for the design of appropriate way of air change regulation in a room. The aim of regulation was to improve air quality using natural ventilation.
Environmental aspects of japan poplar growing - greenhouse gases emissions
KAŇKA, Jakub
The aim of the bachelor thesis "Environmental aspects of japan poplar growing - greenhouse gases emissions" is to create a general overview of cultivation of fast-growing woody plants , specifically japan poplar, by literature study. Another objective is to elaborate a research focused on the environmental impact of its cultivation on greenhouse gas production, which is expressed by the production of carbon dioxide emissions (CO2 eq). For this purpose, the scope of all operations and interventions including the establishment, treatment and subsequent harvesting of the plantation was elaborated in the range of this thesis. Using these data, the total emission burden for the environment in terms of CO2 eq production resulting from the cultivation of energy crops was calculated in the SIMA - PRO program.
Relations of the carbon dioxide occurrence and geologic conditions of the Cheb basin
Pavlát, Jan ; Datel, Josef (advisor) ; Hrkal, Zbyněk (referee)
This bachelor thesis describes the area of the Cheb basin which is situated in the Western Bohemia, and shows the geological, tectonic, hydrogeological structure of this area. The main feature of the bachelor thesis is a CO2 emission in the Cheb basin, near the village Dolní Částkov but it also describes the occurrence of mineral waters in the vicinity of the chosen lokality. Furthermore, the bachelor thesis deals with the emanation of gases in groundwaters. The bachelor thesis describes the properties and occurrence of CO2. At the end of the bachelor thesis, there are results of my measurements in a regular network of points with a device Meopta DI-2 654-03, which serves for an air sampling and measures the concentration of CO2 expressed in percentages. Key words: carbon dioxide, the Cheb basin, geological conditions, mineral water
Air quality in buildings
Kops, Tomáš ; Uher, Pavel (referee) ; Rubinová, Olga (advisor)
The aim of the diploma thesis is to find out by measuring the production of carbon dioxide that man produces in various types of physical activity. Using the model, the goal is to simulate real carbon dioxide production for a type object and to design a way of automatic regulation, air supply and drainage to obtain better indoor environment (represented by carbon dioxide).
Effect of CO2 production on the water level in a closed borehole
Turjaková, Veronika ; Vlček, Josef (advisor) ; Lanzendörfer, Martin (referee)
This thesis is focused on upper mantle originated carbon dioxide exhalations in the area of Western Bohemia, particularly Cheb basin. It describes local geology, current geodynamics, earthquake swarms and related issues. The thesis introduces a simple physical model of gas- water mixture behaviour in a closed borehole. The model was created using elementary physical principles and works as a tool for simplifying the description of events, which were registered at a monitoring borehole HJB-1 at Hartoušov site. Last part of the thesis includes data which were recorded for the verification of the model. These are presented and interpreted at the end of the thesis. Key words: carbon dioxide, Henry's law, Cheb basin
Radon solutions in selected high schools in South Bohemia
PICHLOVÁ, Irena
The principal aim of this diploma thesis was to monitor radon volume activity from the ground at the buildings of selected high schools in the South Bohemian Region. The theoretical part of the diploma thesis was processed by secondary data analysis. With the help of professional literature, valid legislation and Internet texts, radon problems were analyzed. I dealt with the penetration of radon from the subsoil, water and construction material into the buildings. Furthermore, its biological effects on human health, radon program, subsidies and legislation regulating radon problems. The research was proceed through a qualitative search using secondary data analysis. The needful data for the research part of the diploma thesis I got from my own measurement of radon volume activity in five high schools in the South Bohemian Region, supplemented by the measurement of carbon dioxide. I measured the radon volume activity with the continual monitor Radim 5B and the carbon dioxide concentration with the Wöhler KM 410 for climate assessment. Measured result values were processed using special programs on the computer and the results were displayed in graphs. The measurements made it clear that in selected schools up to one have not a greater problem with radon. From the measured values of carbon dioxide concentrations is evident that in schools is not enough ventilation, and the insulation of the building and the replacement of the windows on behalf of Eurowindows plastic or wooden has an fundamental effect. Consequently, the concentration of radon is then higher than it could be. In view of these facts, it would be advisable to carry out a ventilation system in schools or create vents in the masonry to ensure that clean air is drawn into the building.
