Residential Complex in Brno - Komín
Balaščáková, Petra ; Štěrbák, Edvard (referee) ; Novák, Antonín (advisor)
The essence of the project becomes its key position among the green hills in the calm area of Brno city central part-Komin. The aim of the whole project is to offer its inhabitants a comfortable living, taking advantage of its position at the feet a forest and use effectively 2 hectares of this valuable piece of land. The concept "Into the wild" is based on a transition from the city part (comprising the traditional houses with the big collective housing blocks) into the harmony with nature. It reflects in the architecture itself: the bottom part the space is defined by the compact simple 4 storey blocks which progressively transform into the terraced houses growing directly from the slope. The work with the changing terrain is essentail to the project, it´s abstracted into platforms that are rising not only in the longitudinal but also the cross direction. The transition among them help its inhabitants realize the changing terrain and the nature aspect becoming very present in the project. The climax of the architectural journey is the top part of the hill provided with observation terraces. This place becomes the spiritual connection between nature and the city.
