Analysis of eating habits in people with hypertension with the help of NutriDan programme.
MATOUŠKOVÁ, Eva
Hypertension, i.e. elevated blood pressure, ranks among the commonest civilization diseases affecting heart and blood vessels. The incidence rate covers about 25% of adults and it may have deadly consequences. The first step in treating the condition is a change in the way of life. The patients are encouraged to stop smoking; to take reasonable exercise; to reduce stress and, last but not least, to eat healthily. A diet can be assessed using NutriDan, a software leaning on a database of hundreds of foodstuffs having well-verified nutritional values. Health-care professionals can use the software tool to easily calculate the average daily intake of individual components present in a patient's diet. The tool considers the patient's age, physical activity, and the current nutrition. In compiling the paper the author used the software to analyze the nutritional habits of hypertonic patients. The research objective was pursued with reliance on the methods of qualitative survey and interrogation, using the technique of semi-controlled interview to be then made into casuistries. Contacted were hypertonic patients in České Budějovice - with a half of the respondents below 63 years of age and the other half over 63. To identify the quality and quantity of food, the author analyzed their nutritional records (their diet) for 7 days and evaluated the findings with the NutriDan tool. The survey covered 14 respondents whose nutritional records were analyzed to answer the researched question asking whether the daily volumes of energy, sodium, fats and cholesterol that the hypertonic patients received through their diet corresponded with standards recommended by the NutriDan software. The analyses showed that it was not the case. Results arrived at in the paper can be instrumental in mapping the issue of observing the diet provisions in hypertension patients, while the deficiencies found could be utilized to streamline the process of education followed to foster healthy life style.
Special features in nursing care of chest unjuries
HALODOVÁ, Markéta
The paper is titled "Special features of nursing in cases of chest injuries". The chosen objectives were two: (1) to find out whether the nurses are sufficiently skilled in caring for patients with chest injuries, and (2) to find out whether the nurses are sufficiently skilled in caring for the chest injury patients administered thoracostomy using tube drains. The paper has been split into two sections - theoretical and practical. The former deals with the injuries of thorax and their therapy using chest tube drains. Injuries to the thorax are severe conditions threatening to any time deteriorate the state of patient's health. Such injuries can be suffered in traffic accidents, sporting activities, or even through brachial violence. The greater part of the injuries can be intrathoracic, staying hidden inside the chest. The paper concentrates primarily on the active and passive drain techniques and the nursing care provided to the chest drain patients. The required information was obtained using the method of quantitative survey through a questionnaire, with the effort completed by the method of structured observation. The questionnaire was put before nurses working at the departments of traumatology and surgery and at the pulmonary and anesthesiology & resuscitation wards of the České Budějovice Hospital and the Faculty Hospital in Pilsen. This paper could be used in workshops held at the departments of surgery and traumatology as well as those organized by the pulmonary and anesthesiology & resuscitation wards. Moreover, it can serve as instructional material for the students of the Faculty of Health and Social Studies at the University of South Bohemia.
Nursing care of patients with pacemaker
LEJČKOVÁ, Jana
This Bachelor{\crq}s thesis focuses on nursing care for patients after the implantation of a pacemaker, on the providing of information to clients about nursing care and on the benefits of educational materials for patients in hard copy format. Long-term cardiostimulation is used to treat symptomatic cardiac rhythm disorders, where the heart muscle is stimulated for its activity from an external source {--} a pacemaker. The actual implantation amounts to a small surgical procedure that involves possible risks and complications, and professionally provided nursing care is intended to reduce those risks. The thorough informing of the patient by the nursing team increases the patient{\crq}s comfort during hospitalization and can reduce the risk of postoperative complications and fear of the procedure itself. Through proper education after the implantation of a pacemaker both before the patient is released for home healthcare and during outpatient follow-ups, we enable the patient to resume daily living without problems. We obtained the findings for this Bachelor{\crq}s thesis by conducting a quantitative survey using the method of an anonymous questionnaire. For the compiling of the results, 93 properly completed questionnaires were used. The first hypothesis of the research focused on the positive evaluation by clients of provision of information about nursing care after the implantation of a pacemaker. The results of the survey indicated that clients are given sufficient information by physicians, general practice and cardiostimulation nurses, that patients are becoming better informed in recent years, and that patients appreciate receiving the information. The second hypothesis mapped the benefit of educational materials on nursing care in hard copy. Respondents rated the materials as comprehensible and beneficial, providing clients with valuable practical advice about living with a pacemaker.
New ways of newborn treatment methods in delivery room and their acceptance by parents.
KRLÍNOVÁ, Gabriela
The bachelor thesis is focused on new ways of newborn treatment methods in delivery room and their acceptance by parents. Most recently changes have happened in the approach to newborn nursing in delivery rooms immediately after delivery. The care is focused on the most natural way of the mother-to newborn adaptation after delivery, so that the early contact between the mother and newborn infant could be estabilished as soon as possible after birth. The aim of this work was to found, how the mothers perception of these changes and how the mothers evaluate these changes in comparsion with previous methods. The theoretical part of thesis describes newborn care in delivery rooms immediately after delivery, together stay of newborn and mother in delivery room and their stay in the newborn ward . The practical part was elaborated on the basis of results of a qualitative research conducted by semistandardized interviews. The results of the qualitative survey were processed by means of case reports. The research sample consisted of 7 mothers who gave birth to their second or third child in the delivery room in České Budějovice at a certain period of time. The results of the survey show that most mothers accept the new way of newborn nursing and, in their opinion these methods have brought more positives than negatives when compared with the past methods.
Influence of education on life style in woman after hysterectomy.
BASTLOVÁ, Stanislava
The Bachelor thesis was aimed at pre-operational education and its impact on the lifestyle of the women after hysterectomy together with these women´s awareness of appropriate lifestyle after hysterectomy in some hospitals of the Plzeň region. The thesis also led to completing an effective educational handbook for women after hysterectomy.Hysterectomy is one of the most common types of major surgery performed on women. It is often understood very negatively, some women can even see it as an attack to their gender identity. On the other side, it reduces or eliminates long-term health problems. Therefore the clients should be entirely and properly informed and so be confident about their lifestyle after coming home from the hospital.Women in chosen hospitals suffer from lack of information on the sexual life after hysterectomy. The non-educated women felt the lack of information on the lifestyle after hysterectomy and would appreciate an educational handbook. They had no information on sexual life after hysterectomy, the ways of getting a complex spa care and the impact of the operation on menopause. The research findings have proved the need to educate women in the lifestyle after hysterectomy. The information on the life after coming home from the hospital are often omitted. Based on this thesis, the educational handbook could be prepared for women after hysterectomy. This way all women can get sufficient information which will positively impact their mental condition after surgery. The thesis can also be used as a complete source of information on hysterectomy.
Use of physical restrains at psychiatric and somatic departments.
DOHNALOVÁ, Hana
Nursing care of restless and aggressive patients, despite the unstoppable progress, can hardly do without the use of restrictive measures in all cases. In order to provide quality nursing care and to ensure the patient´s safety even with the application of restrictive measures, it is necessary to determine the level of professional quality, or the introduction of nursing standards at all wards where restrictive measures are used. The aim of this thesis was to verify if the restrictive measures in psychiatric inpatient units and inpatient wards of other medical disciplines are being used in accordance with the standard of nursing care of patients who are restrained in bed, and analyze the current standards of nursing care determining the use of restrictive measures. Another objective was to find out nurses´ attitudes to application of restrictive measures and to survey their feelings while applying restrictive measures. On the base of the objectives hypotheses were formulated with regard to data in literature and my own clinical practice, which also includes the use of restrictive measures. The nursing research was conducted through a questionnaire at the wards where restrictive measures are applied. The respondents were nurses working in these units. The results provided clear evidence that not only worldwide, throughout Europe, but also within medical facilities of the Czech Republic, the care of psychiatric patients is inconsistent in terms of restrictive measures, and therefore, standardization of this care is highly desirable. A component part of this thesis is the created Standard of nursing care for application of restrictive measures in medical inpatient facilities, which will be used in practice in České Budějovice Hospital, Inc.
Exercise for Women after Giving Birth.
ŠVECOVÁ, Lucie
ABSTRAKT The topic of my thesis is women?s physical exercise after childbirth. Physical exercising is a close topic to me, which is the reason I have chosen it as the content of my thesis. Physical exercises dutiny confinement play an important role. The body recovers faster and it prevents after-birth difficulties, such as backache, incontinention disorders, descensus uteri, pelvic floor muscles release or abdominal muscles diastasis. The aim of these exersices is to remove the changes that occured in the woman?s body during pregnancy, at childbirth or in the period of confinement. Exercises can be started as early as 12-14 hours after the childbirth. In the thesis I have set two goals and two related hypothese. The first one was to determine the women?s knowledge concerning exercises after childbirth. The other one was to find out what are the sources women get the information concerning exercises after childbirth from. Hypothesis nr. 1: Women have information about exercises after childbirth. Hypothesi nr. 2: Women obtain information concerning exercise after childbirt from midwives at the confinement ward. The research file was made up by women both after a spontaneous childbirth and after caesarotomy, from the period of beány released home from hospital until half a year after childbirth. Quantitative research was performed randomly and furhter in the paediatrician?s surgery of MUDr. Rudolf Láznička in the municipality of Olešník, whit help of anonymous questionnaires. The questionnaire contained 33 questions. In total, 100 questionnaires were distributed, out of which 80 returned. The research part showed that nr.1 hypothesis was confirmed and nr.2 hypothesis was disproven. The thesis could be used as educational material concerning exercise after childbirth for women, midwives and students of the midwife specialization.
Comparison of the Work of Midwives in the Czech Republic and Austria
VLČKOVÁ, Lucie
The bachelor is divided into two parts, namely the theoretical and the research part. The theoretical part is focused in particular on the nursing care provided by midwives in delivery rooms in the Czech Republic and Austria during individual delivery periods. It also describes what complications a midwife may encounter during a delivery and mentions alternative methods that may be used by a midwife in respect of woman in labour.
The pregnancy problems by the women at the age after 35 years
LEDVINOVÁ, Lucie
Though medicine and nursing care have been advancing steadily, everybody is well aware that gravidity in older women poses certain risks, and after the 35th year of age it is not completely trouble-free. At the early stages of gravidity the fetus is endangered by a range of congenital defects of development. The expectant mother can experience problems not only during her pregnancy but also throughout the delivery itself. The pregnancy period may be accompanied by bleeding with the threat of possible miscarriage, premature delivery or some other serious complications looming. The paper aimed at finding whether women in the reproductive age were informed about the hazards of pregnancy after the age of 35; whether women used the method of in-vitro fertilization (IVF); what was the reason behind their decision to put off conception beyond the 35th year of age; and, finally, which nursing problems (nursing diagnoses) emerged attributable to the after-35 gravidity. The survey employed quantitative and qualitative methods. The quantitative investigation followed two objectives and examined two hypotheses. To obtain the required information, the survey relied on an anonymously completed questionnaire. The qualitative investigation pursued two objectives and research inquiries. The data were gathered through interviews and documentation processing. Both the objectives have been accomplished. Hypothesis 1: women within the age of fertility are familiar with the risks posed by the after-35 gravidity - confirmed. Hypothesis 2, not confirmed, expected women older than 35 years not to use the IVF method. With the research questions answered and the qualitative survey results evaluated, the author formulated these hypotheses: (1) Some women became pregrant after the age of 35 as they were unable to conceive earlier; (2) a difficulty that nurses have to tackle in the over-35 women is fatigue. The results of the paper could be beneficial for midwives or students in their future encounters with this subject, topical even today. The paper could also be found instructive by mothers contemplating gravidity after the age of 35.
