Monitoring fiber and protein intake in obese clients of a nutrition counseling center

The obesity epidemic is still a very topical problem and requires a comprehensive therapy that includes nutritional counselling. In my practical experience, the topic of protein and fibre tends to be very common with obese clients and I often observe less than appropriate choices in terms of protein sources. Fibre is not given much importance and therefore its adequate intake is not optimal. Therefore, the theoretical part aimed to summarize the current knowledge about obesity, protein and fibre. However, nutrition in obesity is summarised in a comprehensive way, taking into account other nutrients, but also micronutrients or drinking, which may also be significantly related to obesity. The theoretical summary of obesity was summarized rather marginally. In terms of treatment approaches, diet therapy, physical activity or psychotherapy are more approached. The importance of the nutritional therapist is not neglected. The practical part was quite comprehensive. The effect of nutritional counselling on anorexia nervosa, its origin and treatment

The objective of this bachelor's thesis is to obtain a complex view of nutritional counselling and to prove or disprove influence of nutritionist's care on triggering and developing anorexia nervosa. The theoretical part describes the conditions for practising nutritional counselling and differences between dietitians and nutritionists. Also, this part focuses on factors that can trigger anorexia nervosa, its types, and prevention. The research was conducted by evaluating interviews with three clients of Anabell counselling centre and three clients of a nutritionist. The results show that the trust in the nutritionists is high and the clients precisely follow their recommendations which can affect their health. Inspection of the medical history of the nutritionist's clients was executed in neither of the cases. The medical history contains the important part of psychosocial issues and it was neglected. All of the three respondents confirmed that they did not know the difference between dietitian and nutritionist. The results provide an insight into the incompetent care of the nutritionists. They show that it is essential to spread knowledge on the possibility to use services of dietitians in the nutrition field. Patients' knowledge and experience with nutritional counselling in relation to the occurrence of certain comorbidities of obesity.

The objective of this bachelor thesis was to obtain a comprehensive view on nutrition counselling and confirm or disprove the need to regulate the profession of nutrition consultants. The theoretical part of the thesis explains the relationship of obesity and its comorbidities, confirms the high prevalence of comorbidities as documented by several major studies conducted on large populations, and analyses the relevant legal norms dealing with the conditions on performing a nutrition counselling. As part of this thesis a primary research was conducted, carried out as anonymous survey with patients of Obesity Centre, 3rd Medical Department, 1st Faculty of Medicine Charles University and General Faculty Hospital in Prague, with clients of Recondition Centre VŠTJ Medicina Prague and clients of commercial providers of nutrition counselling. This survey confirmed that knowledge of general nutrition recommendations is satisfactory among respondents, but they tend not to follow the recommendations. The research pointed out clients' high confidence in nutrition consultants. More than three quarters of respondents in both groups labelled weight reduction as the most distinctive service of nutritional consultants. Anorexia nervosa in Czech republic

The thesis focuses on anorexia from the onset of the disease to the possible treatment in the Czech Republic. The theoretical part defines anorexia nervosa, offers insight into potential risk factors and also concentrates on situations that can cause anorexia. Next, this part provides a basic overview of a balanced diet and informs about the use of social work in prevention and follow-up care. Furthermore, it summarizes medical care and therapies used in the treatment of this disease. The practical part consists of case studies of three respondents who have been diagnosed with anorexia nervosa. The case studies examine areas related to family, the onset of the disease, treatment and current state of the respondents.
