Clay minerals in polymeric materials
Zaťko, Petr ; Sluková, Michaela (referee) ; Krmíček, Lukáš (advisor)
The bachelor thesis deals with the clay minerals as fillers in polymer materials and their polymer/clay nanocomposites. The thesis brings an introduction to the structure of polymers and clay minerals and their application in polymer materials. The practical part of the thesis deals with testing the diffusivity of CO2 through the film made of recycled polyvinyl butyral with fillers Nanofil®5, Dellite® 67 and Cloisite® 93A and their comparison with reference samples from recycled PVB without added fillers and commercial films of extruded PVB.
Application of nanofillers into thermoplastics
Žák, Luboš ; Žídek, Jan (referee) ; Kučera, František (advisor)
Bachelor thesis is focused on the search of the state of knowledge in the preparation, properties and applications of nanocomposites with thermoplastics polymer matrix and different types of nanofillers in theoretical part. Methods for the preparation of nanocomposites and techniques used for their characterization are clearly describes. The first method for preparing nanocomposites is an application of nanofiller to the polymer solution with subsequent removal of the solvent. The second method is the dispersion polymerization of nanofiller in the monomer. The last one is the application of nanofiller in the dispersion of ethanol into the polymer melt. The experimental part deals with the preparation of foils for characterization of rheological properties of nanocomposites at first. Polystyrene was polymer matrix and selected nanofillers was applied to the polymer solution and then it was removed the solvent. The second method was the preparation of nanocomposites dispersion polymerization of nanofillers in the monomer. The method in-situ preparation of nanocomposite is based on the thermal initiated polymerisation of styrene in the dispersion of nanofillers with the selected type radical initiator. The third proposed method was the application of ethanol dispersion of fillers into the polymer melt in the Brabender mixer.
Mineral fillers in polymeric materials exposed on Johann Gregor Mendel Czech Antarctic Station
Bařina, Tomáš ; Sluková, Michaela (referee) ; Krmíček, Lukáš (advisor)
The thesis deals with mineral fillers used for the production of polymeric (nano)composites. Emphasized are the fillers that can be in polymers exposed on Johan Gregor Mendel Station under climatic conditions of Antarctica. Practical part of the thesis is focused on determination of mercury contents in a set of commercial mineral fillers (Dellite 67, Dellite 72, Nanofil 5, Cloisite Na 93A, Cloisite 30B) with respect to their potentional negative environmental impact on the sensitive Antarctic ecosystem.
Polymer nanocomposites for interior car body parts
Miškolci, Michal ; Bálková, Radka (referee) ; Jančář, Josef (advisor)
This bachelor’s thesis is interested in the problem of scratch resistance of interior car body parts. In this thesis, the solution is seen in using polycarbonate – based nanocomposites. In theoretical part, a literature search of this theme was made. In experimental part, the samples based on polycarbonate were prepared, and their tensile modulus was tested, as one of the main parameter affecting the scratch resistance.

Strength and magnetism of Mn-Pt nanocomposites
Káňa, Tomáš ; Šob, Mojmír
Using ab initio electronic structure calculations, we have analysed Mn atoms dissolved in a platinum matrix, forming thus intermetallics MnPt3, MnPt7 and MnPt15 that can be considered as prototypes of natural Mn–Pt nanocomposites. On the whole, manganese addition makes the resulting Mn–Pt compound softer but increases its resistance to shape deformation. With increasing Mn content, both tensile and compressive theoretical strength is enhanced. In agreement with experiment, our calculations confirm the antiferromagnetic (AFM) ground state of the MnPt7 structure with spins directions altering along the [100] crystallographic direction (AFM [100]). In addition, we have proposed and studied three prototypes of linear MnPt15 nanocomposites consisting of Mn nanochains in the Pt matrix. Again, AFM [100] ordering was found in the ground state of MnPt15.

Fotogenerace nosičů náboje v polymerních nanokompozitech
Pfleger, Jiří ; Pavlík, Martin ; Vohlídal, J.
Polymer nanocomposites seem to be promising systems for solar cell application with polythiophene acting as photosensitizer and charge transport medium. The electrophoretic deposition proved to be suitable method for preparation nanostructured core/shell functional layers. The simplicity, fast operation rate and the possibility of covering surfaces of irregular shape, as well as a good quality of prepared films are the major advantages of the method.

Pfleger, Jiří ; Pavlík, Martin ; Plieth, W. ; Vohlídal, J.
We established a new electrophoretic deposition method for the fabrication of photoelectrically sensitive structures, in which the core/shell nanoparticles dispersed in an organic solvent are deposited on a semitransparent conductive substrate under an external electric field.
