Post-war life of the Nazi doctor Joseph Mengele
JURCOVÁ, Miroslava
The aim of this thesis is to analyse and interpret the character of the Nazi doctor, Joseph Mengele. We will concentrate on his post-war life. The first part analyzes his medical and Nazi career, focusing on his "appaling experiment" at the concentration camp Auschwitz during World War II. However, the core of this thesis lies in the second part. There we will scrutinize Mengele's dramatic life after the war when he had to hide, move house and frequently change his workplace in order to escape justice for the rest of his life. This thesis thus provides a valuable account of both the monstrosity of Nazi totalitarian idelology and also of the complete professional failure of one of the most eponymous doctors of the 20th century.
