Advanced methods for monitoring li-ion batteries
Vašíček, Jakub ; Čech, Ondřej (referee) ; Vyroubal, Petr (advisor)
This master’s thesis focuses on advanced algorithms for monitoring the state of lithium-ion cells. The introductory section describes the construction and main parameters of these cells. It is followed by an analysis of conventional methods for determining the State of Charge (SoC) and an overview of their main drawbacks. Subsequently, the most frequently used surrogate models for these cells and the methods for their determination are presented. The following section briefly outlines the techniques for monitoring the State of Health (SoH) of cells. After the theoretical part, there is a chapter dedicated to the measurement of a selected cell using the described methods. This includes both laboratory measurements and practical experiments conducted in a real photovoltaic system. Based on the findings and obtained data, an algorithm allowing determination of the surrogate model of the cell during operation was developed. Furthermore, new hardware components for the BMS, which was designed in the previous bachelor's thesis, are proposed. The aim is to eliminate previous shortcomings, enable the implementation of new algorithms, and integrate the device into the IoT platform. New parts of the firmware are also described, and the entire device is tested. In the concluding part, the results of the implemented changes are evaluated.
