Administration of the City of Rakovnik in the Late Middle Ages This work deals with the administration of the city of Rakovnik in the Late Middle Ages as it is reflected in the contemporary municipal books and records of the time. The focus of this work is on the development and operation of the municipal administration, with special attention being given to the existence and activities of city officials, as well as the purpose of individual aspects of the city's administrative life, and the control over such activities maintained by municipal authorities.

During the Thirty Years War the life of the inhabitants of Central Bohemian Town Slaný was (like the life in other central European towns in this period) mainly influenced by soldiers and various war events. Nevertheless, many changes in their lives were brought by the pawn and subsequent sale of the town to nobleman Jaroslav Bořita z Martinic. This thesis is mainly focused on the municipal administration, especially on war events impacts on the town government and also on the new elements in municipal administration related to the change of its legal status, respectively on encroachment of the new manorial lords on the municipal administration. It also deals with mechanisms used by municipal officials (authorities) to protect the lives and property of town's inhabitant against the rampage soldiery. It is not omitted the interactions occurred between the townspeople and soldiers including self-preserving mechanisms and adaptation strategies that allow them cope with soldiers presence as well.

Commemorative book of the market-town of Brtnice from 18th century. Diploma thesis.
KOURKOVÁ, Lucie
The main purpose of this diploma thesis is a critical edition of the manuscript of Book of Varied Antique Sights Trhova Brtnice 1728-1768. It is a commemorative book that was created in 18th century in the environment of a dependant town. The edition is conceived in the way that enables preservation of all formal signs of a modern text. The next part of the thesis briefly summarises the historical development of the town of Brtnice. The emphasis is placed on 17th and 18th century, especially on the function of the patrimonial control and the dependant self-control. The nub of the additional text is an analysis of the resource from the point of view of outer and inner signs; furthermore, its interpretation and possible usage in the historical research.
