Mutual Help and Care in Multigenerational Families

This bachelor thesis deals with a current topic, namely mutual aid and care in families in multigenerational cohabitation. The theoretical part of the bachelor thesis is devoted to the family, the ontogeny of the different developmental periods, which are important for understanding the needs of each generation. The last chapter focuses on multigenerational cohabitation. The practical part includes an evaluation of the results that were found during the research investigation. The main aim of my bachelor thesis is to identify the strengths and weaknesses of multigenerational cohabitation, and I have used qualitative research inquiry to fulfil this aim. The main research question is: "What is the impact of multigenerational cohabitationon mutual help and care?" For data collestion the techniqur of semi-structured interviews was. Choosen Communication partners were selected for the research using the snowball method. The open coding method based on semi-structured interviews was used to evaluate the qualitative data. The research work was conducted using interviews with communication partners divided by generation, which allowed for generation-specific results. From the research, strengths were identified as the transfer of experiences leading to another one, which is the deepening of interpersonal relationships. As a result, the most important strength emerged and that is the increased need for help and car. Weaknesses were identified in the research and these are mainly differences of opinion that arise due to other weaknesses which are privacy restrictions and control. The bachelor thesis can serve as an information material for families who are considering multigenerational living arrangements or are already living in such an arrangement, it can also serve as a study material for students dealing with this issue.
Providing Care for Pensioners in the Context of Multi-generation Coexistence in the Family

This Bachelor's thesis focuses on providing the care for the elderly in a multigenerational cohabitation in the family. The main objective of the thesis was to determine the opinion of the middle generation on the issue of providing care for the elderly within the framework of multigenerational cohabitation in the family. Two partial objectives have been set. The first partial objective consisted in mapping the possibilities of care for the elderly used by families. Another partial objective was to determine the ideas of the families concerning the provision of further care for the elderly. With regard to the thesis objectives, the main research question reads as follows: "How does the middle generation view the provision of care for the elderly within the framework of cohabitation in one household?" The Bachelor's thesis consists of two parts. The theoretical part describes the types of care and social services offered to seniors. The practical part focuses on research. This research was conducted using the qualitative methodology, namely the interviews method. The technique of semi-structured interviews was selected. The research involved eight communication partners. The research indicates that multigenerational cohabitation in the family is more common in the countryside than in the city. It was found that cohabitation suits all the respondents. The care for the elderly is provided mainly by women, yet in some families all members of the household are involved. There are usually good relationships in families with several generations living in one household. Furthermore, the research has shown that multigenerational cohabitation has a number of advantages, yet tolerance and respect among household members is needed. This thesis may help other families in deciding whether to take care of a senior family member at home or whether to use any of the social services provided. A secondary benefit of this Bachelor's thesis consisted in promoting in the availability of information on social services for the elderly. The thesis could also be beneficial to students of social sciences.
The role of grandparents in the family from the view of current university students

This bachelor thesis deals with the position of grandparents in a family in the view of young generation represented by university students. The theoretical part is focused on the family, multigenerational cohabitation and grandparent´s position in the society. It describes the importance of grandparents for children and their parents, but also the importance of grandchildren for their grandparents. It also focuses on intergenerational relationships and intergenerational conflicts that may occur in multigenerational cohabitation. The practical part presents the results of quantitative research of current university students. With the help of questionnaire survey, the aim of this thesis is to find opinions of students to the status of grandparents in a family and opinions on multigenerational cohabitation, including the advantages or disadvantages which this cohabitation brings.
