Characterization of new isolates within the genus \kur{Chromera} (Chromerida: Alveolate)
STEBLOVÁ, Halina
New isolates of alveolate protists with possible affiliation to the genus Chromera (Chromerida: Alveolate) were investigated using molecular biology and molecular phylogeny tools to assume their phylogenetic position and to reveal generic affiliation. According to the data, new isolates belong to the species Chromera velia.
Phylogenetic analyses of myxosporeans based on the molecular data
BARTOŠOVÁ, Pavla
This thesis is focused on the assessment of the phylogenetic position of the Myxozoa within the Metazoa, study of the evolutionary relationships within myxosporeans and investigation into the cryptic species assemblages of several myxosporeans based on the ribosomal and protein-coding data. The major part of this work was to confirm the evolutionary trends within myxosporeans based on a single gene by other molecular markers in order to find out if the reconstructed relationships correspond to the real organismal phylogeny. This has been a crucial step for future actions in solving the discrepancies between the myxosporean phylogeny and taxonomy.
Combined morphological and molecular approach to the assessment of \kur{Ulva} (Chlorophyta, Ulvophyceae) in the Czech Republic
MAREŠ, Jan
This study was aimed at discovering the taxonomical identity of freshwater populations of a prevailably marine green-algal genus Ulva in the Czech Republic. Furtherly, collected samples were compared to available relevant material from European herbaria. The identity of collected specimens was successfully resolved by a combined methodology that involved classical and modern molecular techniques, and discussed in the framework of distribution and ecology of close European taxa.
