Monitoring of minority cereals and pseudocereals growing
VACKOVÁ, Ivana
Growing of alternative crops is not news in the Czech Republic. Some alternative crops were suppressed due to increasing requirements on yields and changes of feeding behaviour (e.g. Triticum monococcum), other crops were grown only on limited places (buckwheat). Revival of the alternative crop growing in the Czech Republic arrives with organic farming development after year 1990. The aim of the thesis was to evaluate the production of alternative cereals and pseudocereals (Triticum spelta, T. durum, T. dicoccum, Pancum milliaceum, Amaranthus sp., Fagopyrum esculentum etc.) in the Czech Republic. The thesis includes a summary of alternative cereals and pseudocereals grown in the Czech Republic, lists of their growers, processors and seed producers, development of the production and areas in the Czech Republic and comparison with the world production.
