Revitalization of rivers on the way fish-passing facility building
Banzetová, Diana ; Princ, Michal (referee) ; Milerski, Rudolf (advisor)
The bachelor thesis is consisted of two parts. First part is about causes of fish migration and revitalization of streams by building of fish ladders over migration barriers. There are described two basic types of fish ladders, natural and technical including main features. Further it is about design, parameters and check of function of fish ladders. At the end there is summary of legislation and funding options of construction. The second part is dedicated to specific fish ladder. The fish ladder is situated to weir on the river Jihlava in Cvrcovice village. Bachelor thesis is here dedicated to description of one particular fish ladder based on actual fish stock. In this part there are hydraulic countings and specific data acquired of HEC-RAS program, in which was fish ladder designed and tested in simulated run based on hydraulic conditions.
Adjust the flow - design migration path
Špaček, Jakub ; Marková,, Jana (referee) ; Šlezingr, Miloslav (advisor)
This thesis describes the design of fish ladder on the river Mohelka near the village Chocnějovice. The first section describes the general characteristics of the river-basin and the selected section. It is written introduction to the design, construction and service of the fish ladder. For the task were developed two alternatives. These alternatives were described and compared each other. Included are the input and output data of the given structure modeling using HEC-RAS. The last part is then researched drawings to objects.
The effect of barriers on riverine fish communities
Kofentová, Nikola ; Horká, Petra (advisor) ; Čech, Martin (referee)
The construction of river obstacles is considered one of the major threat to freshwater ecosystems worldwide, with a greater impact upon riverine fish than any other human activity. River obstacles, especially dams and weirs, affect the natural environment in streams and rivers, causing changes in physical, chemical and biological processes and disrupting connectivity of rivers via alternating series of lotic and lentic reaches. The effect of obstacles is further magnified by associated habitat alterations like are channelization, flow regulation, fortification and deepening of a riverbed. Orga- nisms and especially fish that live in rivers are highly sensitive to these changes, which affects them at the level of individuals, species and the whole populations. The most pronounced is the barrier-effect to upstream and downstream migration and loss of habitats. Diadromous and rheophilic species of fish are the most sensitive ones as they have complex migration strategies and habitat requirements. Fish are further affected by obstacles via many other mechanisms, such as the effect on reproduction success, growth and development, changes in the composition and trophic structure of communities and restricted response to further environmental constraints including water pollution or predicted climate...
