The Intergenerational Mobility in Czech Republic

This paper deals with the intergenerational income mobility, its determinants and scope. The data sample concerning fathers and their sons in the Czech Republic and is collected by a questionnaire method. Results are estimated using simple linear regression with socioeconomic indices as a proxy variable and using transition matrix. The resulting mobility is not too large, which means that the opportunities in the Czech Republic are not equal. As important exogenous variables turned out to be years of schooling of both father and son and higher education attainment of both.
