Meditation: forms and philosophical implications

This thesis deals with meditation, its forms and philosophical presuppositions. There are many activities activities that people call meditation, which can differ from each other. The first part is focused on existing definitions of meditation and the author proposes his own definition. The second part is devoted to various meditation techniques and forms. The author extends traditional distinction of known techniques by adding philosophical meditation and methods of relaxation. However, is there something that these activities have in common? The last part thus deals with common aspects of each meditation, which are together with its definition understood as philosophical presupppostitions of meditation itself.
Meditation and its impact on quality of life

The thesis evaluates on the impact of regular meditation practice on the quality of hu-man life. The theoretical part describes the historical development of meditation, meditation from the perspective of science, and the key philosophical and religious trends where the phenomenon of meditation appears. Furthermore in this part, the concept of "quality of life" is described from different angles along with addressing the correlation between meditation and quality of life. The practical part presents the qualitative re-search that analyze regular practice of meditation and its impact on quality of life of respondents.
Managing psychosocial load with relaxation and meditation techniques

In the theoretical part the bachelor thesis titled Managing psychosocial load with relaxation and meditation techniques deals with relations between physical condition and mental, emotional and social components. It focuses on psychosocial determinants of health and on diseases for which physical problems and failed functions are conditional on the mental condition. The thesis presents main definitions and symptoms of stress, stress factors and the most frequent consequences of stress. Further, the theoretical part deals with relaxation and meditation techniques used as a means to manage such psychosomatic difficulties.
