Main motives in Lithuanian literature from the nineties of Twentieth Century. Analysis and comparision of two perspectives.

(in English): The subject of the thesis is to compare two works from the nineties of the twentieth century written by Lithuanian authors. Namely, Leaves of Fallen Trees by Grigory Kanovich and Land of Glass by Vanda Juknaitė. Methodologically we are situated in the comparative studies. We will compare phenomena such as language and style of the works, the symbolism of their names and recurring themes. Furthermore, we compare the image and a reflection of history in both works. After a brief but detailed introduction to the authors and their works we will gradually discover elements and features of the works and we will compare and confront them together trying to penetrate their perception of the world and the questions specific to the time when the works have been written. An important contribution of the work is also Czech translation of Land of Glass by Vanda Juknaitė and notes about way of thinking and language world of the work.
The Development of Slovak drama theatre since 1920s till 1970s and its interaction with Czech theatre

Following dissertation thesis study the influence of Czech theatre on developement of Slovak classic drama theatre during approximately from the twenties to seventies of 20th century. The purpose of the thesis is to identify the possible impact of Czech theatre on development of Slovak theatre culture in common state system regarding the similarity of both nations and cultures. The thesis are divided into two parts. First part defines chosen methodology. It presents the concept of literature comparatistics and its possibilites regarding application on theatrological research, it explains basic terms of comparatistics, the context of origin of Czech and Slovak nation regarding the idea of national theatre and it sets its own periodization In second part the comparative analysis is applied on particular historic source, it analyzes each period using examples from work of Slovak directors in particular historic-political context while comparing it to the state of Czech theatre. These chapters use tools of comparative analysis ? typological connections or genetic and contact relations of both theatre cultures. The main purpose of the thesis is to emphasize the fact, that despite the common historic and political context and significant language and cultural similarity, there are two individual theatre cultures developing since 1920 that are engaged in a continual creative but mostly varying dialogue.
A fairy tale as the literary genre, the problem of comparison

This work concerns the topic of fairy tale as a literary genre. It continues approaching the issue of Comparative Studies. Considering parts of this paper, there is an introduction of important figures in comparative literature and folklore and folk literature in general. In this work can be also be found specific analysis of the most famous fairy tales from their origin and variants point of view. One of the goals of this thesis is the introduction of different material containing the theory of fairy tales or text databases of different variations. The practical part includes research on the incidence of selected folk tales and their variants in public libraries, schools and homes. The aim is to determine whether and to what extent are libraries influenced by modern day trends, or whether they tend to keep the traditional versions of fairy tales.
The Gender in the literature - the theory and analysis of chosen texts

In the dissertation I will examine gender from the literature side based on the comparison with chosen articles of authors from Czech and World literature. I am trying to interface theoretical and practical part. I have chosen three authors in the practical one: William Shakespeare, Arnost Lustig and Jaroslav Havlicek. On the basis of six written works of those authors I compare individually differences among main characters. In books Romeo a Julie (Romeo and Juliet), Zkrocení zlé ženy (The Taming of the Shrew), Modlitba pro Kateřinu Horovitzovou, Dita Saxová, Helimadoe a Petrolejové lampy I am searching for elements of gender, comparison of roles of men and women, and progression of particular female characters.
The pioneers of American Poetry of the 19th Century

Diploma work presents the Poetics of Emily Dickinson and Walt Whitman as a big influence on traditional American Literary development. Their work brought a new view of traditional Poetry in 19th century, which affected the whole status of traditional American culture. Their styles of writing had an effective impact on American Literature and shaped the new image of Poetry. One of the purposes of this diploma work is to introduce historical and literary-philosophical background of the period of 19. century, which influenced their lives and work as well. Then the diploma work demonstrates the Poetry of Walt Whitman and Emily Dickinson and compares their work afterwards according to the chosen topics appearing in their poems. To summarise the whole diploma work there is the analyse of the similarities and differences in the poetry of both poets.
