Protection Strategy of Isolated Populations of Aesculapian Snake (\kur{Zamenis longissimus}) in Europe

The Aesculapian snake (Zamenis longissimus) is a large, harmless species that suffered declines in many countries within its predominantly European range. This species also occurs in several isolated and threatened populations, distinctly separated from its main area of distribution. This work aims to protection of isolated populations of this species in the Czech Republic, Poland and Germany and compares strategies of protection in these countries.
