Diagnosis of internet addiction
MALÍKOVÁ, Tereza
This bachelor thesis deals with the diagnosis of Internet addiction and the aim of the thesis is to translate the questionnaire The Compulsive Internet Use Scale CIUS (Meerkerk, Van Den Eijnden, Vermulst, & Garretsen, 2009) into Czech, then test it on the Czech population and create standards for its use in the Czech environment. The theoretical part deals with the issue of Internet addiction and the characteristics of individual subtypes of internet addiction. In the first chapter, Internet addiction is first set in the context of substance and behavioral addictions. It also contains treatments and diagnostic tools used to measure Internet addiction. The practical part describes the method of translation and the process of adapting the method to the Czech environment, including the results of psychometric properties of the Czech version of the questionnaire. The research sample consists of 1015 respondents who filled in the Internet version of the questionnaire sent via the social network Facebook. Results suggest that the Czech version of the CIUS shows a three-factor solution, good internal consistency, split-half reliability and its psychometric properties do not differ from the psychometric properties of the original version and other CIUS translations.
