Innovation and small business

The main aim is to define the role of a small business in a market economy, to analyse innovative activities in the specific activities of small business in connection with their economic characteristics. This diploma thesis contains information about the importance of small and medium-sized enterprises. The medium-sized enterprises have limited resources, but they are flexible and essential for introducing innovations. In this diploma thesis is described what an innovation is, which the innovation phases are and who an innovator is. In a practical part is described the analysed subject - the entrepreneur as the same person as the author of this thesis. The entrepreneur does a wire-craft and looking for options to make innovations in three areas. The three areas are: cutting rings, an expansion of the spring and a wire drawing. The entrepreneur decides an introduction of the innovations using decision matrices. Then he measures time savings in production and appreciates by the minimum wage. The result is a calculation of the innovation return.
