Abstract This thesis focuses on the zapatista conflict with the Mexican government, which culminated in 1994 in the Mexican state of Chiapas. The aim of this conflict was to highlight the human rights violations of indigenous people and express disagreement with the Mexican political system that caused many burdens of the ethnic mainly due to neoliberal reforms. The attention is focused especially on the causes of the conflict, which are reflected in the background of theory of human needs.
