Tension between professionalism and service of love in social work.
PŘÍHODOVÁ, Denisa
This bachelor thesis delves into the tension between professionalism and service out of love in social work. Theoretical part describes the evolution of social work from present time, and at the same time characterizes contemporary social work and the profession of social worker. It also focuses on the term "professionalism" in social work and love as viewed by Erich Fromm and Viktor E. Frankl. Practical part concentrates on qualitative research with the goal of mapping ideas of social workers from chosen areas of social work based on interview coding. Participants were four social workers from the area of social affairs and from a crisis center. The final analysis of acquired data has shown that social workers do not perceive the relation between professionalism and service out of love as tension, but rather as complementary.
